Job Description University of St. Thomas Adjunct Faculty Network Technology The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, with its main campus near the vibrant Houston central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty Network Technology, Associates of Applied Sciences Program. The position will report to the Dean of the Associates Program. General Description: The position requires a faculty member with experience in Computer Information Technology and /or Network Security. The teaching faculty will provide learning activities and support the course objectives that aim to recognize the type of network designs appropriate for OSI (open system interconnection) models, security, and networking protocols. Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the online program. Responsibilities: • Plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning, • Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines, • Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods, • Teaching assignment may include some evening and/or weekend hours, • Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress, • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, • Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required Knowledge, skills, and abilities: • Mastery of course content, • Effective classroom technique and skills, • Demonstrated leadership skills and style that emphasizes collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, • Positive interpersonal skills with a service orientation, • Commitment to diversity with the ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints, • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of people, • Demonstrates interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning, • Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning, • Demonstrated intermediate proficiency level working with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software Education and Experience Requirements: • Masters degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, computer-based information systems or business/computer related field (e.g., computer management, decision engineering, or electrical engineering) required., • Minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in the technology field., • Minimum of 3 years non-teaching work experience in the related field or industry certification(s)., • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of work and teaching experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position. Job Description Spitzer, a recognized industry leader in designing and fabricating high-specification equipment, is currently seeking Vessel Welders to join our team. What Does a Week in the Life of the Vessel Welder Look Like? • Understand and follow safety policies and procedures of the shop., • Conforms to shop quality practices and procedures., • Experience on Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG), Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) & Gouge to apply root pass., • Set up components and weld metal parts together, using both gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes., • Analyze defective equipment and identify appropriate defective equipment and inform supervisor., • Weld metal components together to fabricate products according to engineering drawings or work orders., • Ability to manipulate heat during the welding process to maintain nozzles & couplings to the right level and degrees., • Ability to know how to adjust min/ max tolerance gaps to start the welding process to maintain the welded components within tolerance., • Ability to make a full penetration on nozzle to shell that doesn’t require back weld by welding specification., • Practices good housekeeping skills and properly disposes of metal wastes according to safety and environmental policies., • Other duties as assigned by the Foreman. Skills (to Pay the Bills) Here's a list of a few competencies that the Vessel Welder at Spitzer should have… • Ability to follow shop procedures, quality procedures and safely practices., • Must have verbal skills with fluency for the responsibilities assigned., • Two to four years of experience in welding fabrication of vessels., • Must be able to read and follow welding procedures., • Must be able to perform 6G, 6” and 2” 45 degrees weld test., • Must be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of professional and technical associations.
