Structural Analysis Engineer Indefinite Full time Hybrid (08040, Barcelona, Spain) Mechanical About Pangea Aerospace: We are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with ground-breaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems. Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which is essential to meet demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade. We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what is possible in space propulsion technology. We have already made history by successfully testing the Worlds first 3D-printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry. We are looking for talented professionals to join our international teams in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team! We are looking for a Structural Analysis Engineer in Barcelona . About the role: As a Structural Analysis Engineer, you will be a key technical contributor within Pangea Propulsion’s Structural Analysis team, operating with autonomy on thermomechanical, dynamic, and nonlinear structural problems. You will own analysis campaigns end-to-end: from problem framing, modelling, validation, to results interpretation and design recommendations - directly influencing the architecture, performance, and robustness of the next generation of propulsion systems. Within the team, you will serve as a technical reference point for advanced structural analysis methods , help shape internal best practices, and elevate the quality of analyses across projects. A core part of your role will be coaching and guiding junior and consolidated analysts, transferring knowledge, reviewing technical work, and contributing to a high-performance engineering culture. In this position, you will also take ownership of complex structural analysis problems and contribute to defining modelling strategies and analysis standards for the team. Familiarity with rocket propulsion hardware - or strong motivation to learn - will allow you to make an immediate impact. Key responsibilities Perform and lead FEA campaigns including static, modal, thermo-mechanical, dynamic and transient analyses, dealing efficiently with non-linear problems (contacts, plasticity, large deformation etc.) Plan, build, verify, document and maintain high-fidelity and robust FE models with traceability to loads, material properties, requirements, and assumptions. Provide clear, high-impact design feedback to mechanical design and propulsion teams at both part and subsystem level. Develop and improve analysis methodologies, scripts, subroutines, benchmarks, and guidelines. Lead cross disciplinary interactions with mechanical design, fluidic analysis, and test teams to ensure coherent modelling strategies and proper load mapping. Participate in design reviews, presenting methods, assumptions, results, and recommendations with clarity, conciseness and technical rigor. Mentor junior and consolidated engineers, helping them develop modelling skills, physics intuition, validation strategies, and efficient workflows. Review and challenge analysis approaches to ensure modelling robustness and consistency across projects. What you need to be successful Master’s degree (or higher) in Aerospace, Mechanical, or related engineering disciplines. Minimum 5+ years of professional experience performing advanced structural analyses using commercial FEA tools (preferably Abaqus). Proven ability to run non-linear, thermo-mechanical, and dynamic analyses with a high level of autonomy and technical ownership. Strong understanding of structural mechanics, vibrations, fatigue, fracture, material behavior, and numerical methods. Demonstrated experience framing analysis problems, defining assumptions, and ensuring consistency with loads and system requirements. Ability to interpret results critically, identify anomalies, and propose sound engineering solutions. Excellent communication skills—able to articulate assumptions, limitations, and design implications clearly to multidisciplinary teams. Proactive mindset, ownership attitude, and passion for sharing knowledge and elevating team capability. Fluent English. Other useful skills Experience in any of the following topics: fatigue (high cycle and low cycle), fracture mechanics, rotodynamics, test-correlation, topology optimization or probabilistic structural methods. Knowledge of rocket propulsion systems: injector heads, thrust chambers, turbomachinery, feed systems, thermal & dynamic environments, etc. Proficiency with meshing tools (e.g., MeshWorks) and scripting languages (Python, MATLAB). Experience writing Abaqus subroutines (UMAT, USDFLD, UEL, etc.). Experience working with ECSS, AIAA and other aerospace structural verification standards. Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they dont meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Aerospace, were committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if youre enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesnt align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply. You might just be the ideal candidate for this position or other opportunities within our organization. More about us… We are an international and very multicultural team.
