About the role This is an individual contributor position, without management or mentoring responsibilities. The Regulatory Compliance Officer supports the daily operations of the Compliance & Risk team, reporting to the COO and working closely with the Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Manager. The role centers on AML/CFT: onboarding, transaction monitoring, and client record-keeping, alongside related areas such as market abuse, conflicts of interest, and anti-bribery and corruption (ABC). The work carries real responsibility. It includes preparing cases for the onboarding committee, reviewing live alerts on cryptocurrency transaction flows, and, where appropriate, filing Suspicious Activity Reports directly with TRACFIN. As experience grows, the role will expand to include greater involvement in improving the team's tools and processes, as well as supporting a variety of regulatory compliance initiatives, from updating internal policies and procedures to contributing to remediation projects and the implementation of new regulatory requirements. Responsibilities • Handle the onboarding process end-to-end, from initial data collection to reviewing KYC documentation and preparing client files for internal review and onboarding committee meetings., • Conduct ongoing due diligence efforts, including KYC refreshes and risk reassessments, in collaboration with other Compliance team members., • Execute first-level alert reviews and monitoring tasks using Chainalysis, Dotfile, and GAE (Aplo’s platform)., • Prepare and submit suspicious activity reports (SARs) to TRACFIN via the ERMES platform, under validation by the Regulatory compliance and financial crime manager., • Participate in the configuration, testing, and improvement of compliance tools such as Dotfile by providing feedback and supporting basic updates., • Assist in updating internal procedures and compliance documentation (e.g. SOPs, workflows), based on team input and regulatory changes., • Contribute to cross-functional projects, translating regulatory requirements into scalable business processes and controls., • Carry out regular compliance routines, including checks on newly added crypto addresses or bank accounts, and support follow-up tracking., • Participate in ad hoc compliance and operational risk projects as assigned, with structured deliverables and support., • Provide support to the Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Manager on regulatory compliance matters related to the firm's CASP and Payment Institution licences, including the monitoring of applicable regulatory requirements and regulatory developments. What You Need Knowledge • Working knowledge of EU regulatory frameworks: MiCA, AMLD5 & 6, DSP2- these are the texts that directly govern what Aplo can and cannot do, so decisions need to be grounded in them, not guesswork., • Solid understanding of AML/CFT, market abuse, and conflicts of interest., • Familiarity with crypto/fintech risk (further training provided)., • Experience with, or willingness to learn, tools such as Comply Advantage, Chainalysis, and Dotfile. Know-how • Ability to follow structured processes and checklists without deviation., • Comfortable handling sensitive documentation and data., • Able to identify missing information and inconsistencies., • Organized in maintaining records and version tracking. Behavior • Detail-oriented and reliable., • Willing to learn in a fast-changing regulatory environment- MiCA and crypto AML practice are still evolving, so the job requires updating your understanding regularly, not applying a fixed playbook., • Clear written and verbal communicator., • Works well within a team and responds constructively to feedback- this is a collaborative role working closely with the Regulatory Compliance and Financial Crime Manager, COO, and other teams, not an isolated one., • Able to sustain consistency on repetitive tasks- a large part of the role is high-volume, recurring checks, and quality has to hold up on file 200 the same way it did on file 1. Experience & Education • Master's degree in Law, Financial Law, Compliance, Audit, Risk Management, or a related field., • 3–5 years of experience in compliance/risk at a financial institution (CASP, Payment Institution, EMI…), asset manager, consulting firm, or fintech., • Hands-on experience with AML/CFT processes: onboarding, screening, transaction monitoring, fraud, conflicts of interest., • Fluent in French and English (C2 in both).
