This allows for meaningful relationships, individualised support, and consistent therapeutic care. You will play a vital role in supporting young people to build independence, understand their emotions and behaviours during difficult moments, and develop positive coping strategies. The Role: Registered Manager As Registered Manager, you will lead a high-performing childrens home where exceptional care, strong leadership, and regulatory excellence go hand in hand. This is a pivotal leadership role for an experienced professional passionate about delivering outstanding outcomes for young people while developing and inspiring others. Deliver outstanding care and compliance Lead the delivery of high-quality care in full accordance with the Minimum Childrens Home Standards (NI) and the Childrens Home Regulations (NI) 2005. Ensure full compliance with all organisational policies, procedures, statutory regulations, and best-practice standards. Uphold the highest safeguarding and child protection standards, promoting a transparent, open, and accountable culture. Drive quality, strategy, and continuous improvement Provide strategic leadership, identifying developments and improvements within the home. Complete Schedule 5 notifications and maintain effective communication with the relevant regulator. Champion quality assurance processes in partnership with the Quality and Systems Team, embedding best practice throughout the service. Achieve and sustain positive RQIA inspection outcomes, working collaboratively with inspectors to continually enhance standards. Inspire and develop your team Provide monthly formal supervision, ongoing informal support, and structured annual appraisals for all staff. Deliver coaching and mentoring, supporting Professional Development Plans and ongoing competency assessments. Create a culture where staff feel supported, motivated, accountable, and proud of the care they provide. Ensure safe and effective daily operations Manage all resources effectively, including staffing, to optimise service delivery. Identify and coordinate appropriate internal and external services to support best childcare practice and promote the emotional and physical wellbeing of young people and staff. Oversee day-to-day operational management of the home and participate in the on-call rota for a minimum of four days per week. Working Pattern & On-Call Commitment To support both effective leadership and consistent care delivery, this role offers a balanced structure combining protected management time with hands-on practice: 32 non-contact hours per week dedicated to Registered Manager duties, including leadership, compliance, quality assurance, and team development. 6 shift hours per week to maintain a strong presence within the home and support the team and young people directly. 0.5 sleepover per week, providing continuity of care and leadership when required. Flexibility is essential in residential care, and shift work (including sleepovers) will be required in line with the needs of the service. Any additional shift or sleepover hours are added to our Hours Bank system. You will also participate in the on-call rota for a minimum of four days per week, with any additional hours worked paid at enhanced rates. Undertake responsibilities as directed by the General Manager, Area QSM, or Responsible Person, showing initiative, accountability, and professional ownership. Complete all required documentation and reporting to a high standard, including Shift Reports, Critical Information Reports, and other internal records. Communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with colleagues and a wide range of multi-disciplinary professionals involved in each young persons care. Act as a positive ambassador for Safe Places, contributing to the organisations reputation, growth, and continuous improvement. Manage and resolve interpersonal challenges in line with organisational policies and procedures, actively engaging in supervision, meetings, and mandatory annual training. Model the qualities we value most enthusiasm, professionalism, responsiveness, unity, and supportiveness fostering strong team cohesion and helping young people progress towards their goals. Essential Criteria We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and resilient leader who can demonstrate: A minimum of 2 years experience supporting traumatised children and young people displaying challenging and pain-based behaviours within a residential setting. A recognised qualification in Social Work (Degree or Diploma) and a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience. At least 1 years experience supervising staff, including coaching, oversight, and facilitating team meetings. A full UK or Irish driving licence held for more than one year, with no more than three penalty points. The ability to obtain a positive Enhanced Access NI check. Willingness to register with (or already be registered with) the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC) Part 1.
