The Role Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Vehicle Car Mechanic is responsible for accurately, skilfully and efficiently undertaking the repair and servicing of customers vehicles, whilst detecting and diagnosing any additional faults for further repair, ensuring that all work is completed safely and to the customers satisfaction. These vehicles include cars and vans. Specific duties include: 1. Carrying out vehicle maintenance and repair on all parts of a vehicle, including the engine, exhaust system, air conditioning and electrical system etc 2. Testing, diagnosing and resolving faults 3. Inspecting components for wear and tear 4. Repairing and replacing parts 5. Checking vehicle subsystems 6. Fitting vehicle enhancements to meet customer requirements in line with associated procedures and Quality Standards, for example, parking sensors 7. Loaning out of specialist equipment and tools to traders ensuring that all equipment and tools are signed out and logged back in to stores 8. Maintaining general knowledge of industry technical updates 9. Adhering to company policies and procedures to ensure all activities are implemented within both statutory and company guidance 10. Maintaining work areas with good housekeeping 11. Suggesting and making improvements to processes 12. Liaising with customers as and when required 13. Any other incidental duties required to provide service to the customer. 14. Working closely with and communicating any issues to the Workshop Manager and/or Workshop Owner which could impact production flow or quality standards 15. Ordering parts and equipment from suppliers 16. Ensuring all equipment is checked and safe before use, reporting any issues or discrepancies to the Workshop Manager and/or Workshop Owner 17. Supporting other Mechanics in the workshop as and when required 18. Participating in on-the-job training of workshop apprentice as and when required Skills, Qualifications and Experience The Vehicle Car Mechanic will have a strong technical background with qualified technician status. They are/have: 1. Fully qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair 2. Experience within the auto industry with 3+ years experience of vehicle maintenance 3.Full UK Driving Licence 4. Knowledge and experience of using modern diagnostic equipment often using computer-based tools 5. Excellent problem-solving skills 6. A good team player with the ability to work independently or as part of a busy team 7. Ability to successfully interact with other industry professionals for example, auto electricians, Vehicle Inspection Officers/DVSA Officers 8. Excellent attention to detail and procedure adherence 9. Ability to multi-task in a busy environment 10. Excellent customer focussed communication skills both on the telephone or face to face 11. Experience of working on a wide variety of cars and vans 12. Experience of working on specialist vehicles including ambulances and motor homes this is not essential as training will be provided TPBN1_UKTJ
