About the Venue Managed by Rhubarb Hospitality Collection, the iconic Royal Albert Hall operation consists of 3 restaurants, 14 bars, 1 retail outlet, 147 hospitality boxes and events for up to 2000 people. Role Purpose We are seeking an experienced Head Chef Events to take full ownership of the planning, preparation and delivery of all event catering at the Royal Albert Hall. Working closely with the Culinary Senior Team, Events and Hospitality leadership, you will be responsible for ensuring every event is delivered to the highest possible standard, reflecting the prestige and heritage of the venue. This is a genuinely demanding and high profile operation. The scale of the Royal Albert Hall, the variety of events and the expectation of consistency across large volumes require a senior chef who is calm under pressure, highly organised and confident leading large teams in a fast paced environment. You will play a key role within a multi stakeholder operation, working closely with events, hospitality, procurement, operations and building management to ensure seamless delivery. What you'll be doing Leading all culinary operations for events at the Royal Albert Hall, including concerts, gala dinners, corporate events, private hires and VIP hospitality Planning, developing and delivering event menus that balance creativity, quality and commercial performance in line with the Royal Albert Halls standards Managing large scale event preparation and service, ensuring kitchens are fully prepared, correctly staffed and appropriately resourced for each event Leading, scheduling and motivating large kitchen brigades, setting clear standards, managing rotas and supporting training and development Working closely with Events, Hospitality and Operations teams to ensure food offer, service style and delivery align with event requirements Maintaining the highest standards of food safety, hygiene and health and safety across all event kitchens at all times Ensuring full compliance with allergen legislation, dietary requirements and due diligence documentation Representing the Royal Albert Hall as a senior culinary figure during high profile and VIP events What we're looking for You will come from a luxury hotel, major events venue, cultural institution or large scale hospitality operation, operating in a comparable senior events catering role. Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within large scale event or banqueting operations Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage, motivate and develop large and diverse kitchen teams Excellent organisational skills and the ability to maintain control and consistency within complex operations A calm, confident and solutions focused approach in high pressure environments Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multiple internal and external stakeholders Comprehensive knowledge of food safety legislation, allergen compliance, COSHH and health and safety within a professional catering environment Good to know Please note, this role pays £50,000 - 55,000 (inclusive of tronc) DOE and is 100% on site at the Royal Albert Hall Benefits: Enhanced holiday entitlement Learning and Development opportunities Pension Scheme Staff social events throughout the year Free meals on duty Employee Assistance Programme Referral Scheme Our Inclusion Commitments OVG is for everyone. Working closely with the Head Chef Events and the wider Culinary Senior Team, you will play a key role in the planning, preparation and execution of food operations across a diverse and high profile events programme. This is a demanding and fast paced role within a complex operation. The scale of the Royal Albert Hall, combined with the variety and volume of events, requires a highly organised, hands on chef who leads confidently under pressure. You will be an integral part of a multi stakeholder operation, working collaboratively with events, hospitality, logistics and operations teams to ensure consistently high standards. What you'll be doing Supporting the Head Chef Events in the delivery of all culinary operations for events, including concerts, gala dinners, corporate events, private hires and VIP hospitality Assisting with the planning, development and execution of event menus, ensuring quality, consistency and presentation meet Royal Albert Hall standards Overseeing day to day kitchen operations for events, including preparation, production and service Leading and supervising kitchen teams during event preparation and live service, ensuring standards, procedures and timings are consistently met Supporting kitchen logistics, including production planning, stock usage and post event breakdown Working closely with Events, Hospitality and Operations teams to ensure food delivery aligns with event formats and guest expectations Maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene and health and safety, ensuring full compliance at all times Ensuring allergen information, dietary requirements and due diligence documentation are accurately followed and maintained What we're looking for You will come from a luxury hotel, major events venue, cultural institution or high volume hospitality operation, with experience in large scale event catering or banqueting. Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef or Sous Chef within a high volume or events focused kitchen Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train and motivate large kitchen teams Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail within complex operational environments A calm, professional and solutions focused approach when working under pressure Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior chefs and multiple departments Sound knowledge of food safety legislation, allergen compliance, COSHH and health and safety requirements Experience working across multiple kitchens or large event operations would be highly advantageous Good to know Please note, this role pays £48,000 - 51,000 (inclusive of tronc) DOE and is 100% on site at the Royal Albert Hall Benefits: Enhanced holiday entitlement Learning and Development opportunities Pension Scheme Staff social events throughout the year Free meals on duty Employee Assistance Programme Referral Scheme Our Inclusion Commitments OVG is for everyone.
