Change Hospitality is proud to be partnering with a leading event catering client in the search for an accomplished and driven Head Chef. This is a pivotal leadership role within a high-performing culinary team, supporting the Executive Chef in delivering exceptional kitchen operations across a diverse portfolio of events. Our client is seeking a culinary professional who combines creativity with strong operational and commercial acumen, and who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment. Key Responsibilities Kitchen Leadership & Team Development Oversee the day-to-day running of the kitchen, leading, mentoring, and developing a team of Sous Chefs and Chefs de Partie Prepare and manage staff rotas in line with operational requirements and labour cost targets Promote a positive, professional, and performance-driven kitchen culture Menu Innovation & Collaboration Work closely with the Executive Chef to develop seasonal, innovative, and commercially viable menus Collaborate with the sales team to create tailored menu proposals that meet client briefs Maintain exceptional standards of food quality, consistency, and presentation Operational & Financial Management Take responsibility for food cost control, portion management, and waste reduction Oversee purchasing, supplier relationships, and inventory processes Manage kitchen budgets in line with agreed GP targets Lead accurate production planning and forecasting to ensure seamless event delivery Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with food safety legislation and HACCP standards Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation across kitchen and storage areas Support regular training and internal audits to uphold compliance standards Event Execution Oversee on-site catering delivery, maintaining quality and efficiency throughout service Work in close partnership with event managers to ensure smooth coordination Adapt confidently to last-minute changes and operational demands Candidate Profile Demonstrated experience as a Head Chef or Senior Sous Chef within event catering, banqueting, or large-scale hospitality operations Strong leadership skills with experience building and managing high-performing teams Solid understanding of kitchen financial management, including food cost and budget control Thorough knowledge of food safety and regulatory requirements Excellent organisational and time-management abilities Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings and weekends Relevant culinary qualifications preferred What Our Client Offers Competitive salary package Annual performance-related bonus Comprehensive benefits including private healthcare (with dental), £50 monthly welfare allowance, and salary sacrifice schemes for pension, cycle-to-work, and nursery fees 33 days annual leave Opportunities for career progression Creative involvement in menu development A dynamic, varied working environment, including international travel opportunities.
