Wood is currently sourcing Senior Structural Engineer candidates for an Expression of Interest role we may have available within our Operations team in Glasgow. Please note that this is not an active position at this stage.The Role:For strong structural engineers, an exciting opportunity to shift beyond conventional buildings and infrastructure and apply your technical capability where it will have industry‑wide impact. Qualifications:Degree Qualifications MEng (Hons) Civil EngineeringProfessional Qualifications IStructE (or preparing to sit)Skills/Experience:Experienced design in buildings and large infrastructure projects designing in reinforced concrete elements and structural steelwork elementsDesign to Eurocodes and to older British standards such as BS5950 and BS8110 advantageousComputer literate and can use TEDDS, Tekla Structures, Tekla Structural Designer, STAAD Pro and / or other similar analysis packagesExperience of design and analysis of older (pre Eurocodes) legacy structures advantageous including design beyond code limitsExperience of design of structures beyond design life would be desirable but not strictly requiredExperience of working on Front End Engineering, (FFED), studies preferredProviding discipline expertise:Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches; exercises mature professional judgment in evaluating and selecting technical strategic optionsAs necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situationsRegularly functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problem or projectProduces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approachesConsistently called on to use creativity and professional judgement to formulate results based on engineering standards, experience and constructive thinkingDevelops unique solutions for complex technical problemsAnticipates potential problems and takes the initiative to solve complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal and external resources both inside and outside of discipline expertiseExercises mature professional judgement in identifying the implications of experimental resultsUnderstands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meet goalsProvide technical input and support to proposals as requiredFull timePosting Date: 2026-02-27
