Engineer - Residential Developer (Client Side) - Civil/ Infrastructure - Planning and Preconstruction\n \n Location: Norwich\nSalary: Up to £75,000 + benefits\nWorking pattern: Hybrid\n \n Thinking about moving client-side - or stepping up with a larger developer?\n \n This is an opportunity to join a major residential developer in a client-side Engineering role, where your focus is on technical oversight, coordination and design management - not fee chasing or timesheets.\n \n You'll join a supportive Technical team of 4-5 engineers, working across a strong, long-term development pipeline with genuine scope to grow and move internally.\n \n This role has strong involvement at pre‑planning and planning stage, working closely with land, planning and technical teams to shape schemes from the outset. Experience or working knowledge of engineering input at pre‑planning and planning stage is therefore important.\n \n Why this role stands out\n\nClient-side engineering role within a large residential developer\nStrong, close‑knit technical team with experienced support\nExposure to more complex and higher‑value developments\nClear internal progression and opportunity to move across divisions\nHybrid working and long‑term workload securityThis role suits someone who wants broader influence, better balance, and a long-term career path on the developer side.\n \n What you'll be doing\n\nSupporting schemes from pre‑planning and planning stage through to delivery\nProviding engineering input into site feasibility, constraints and early design strategy\nOverseeing infrastructure and groundworks design across residential developments\nManaging external engineering consultants covering: foundations, roads and drainage, sewers and adoption works\nCoordinating Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements, including bond closures\nProcuring service records and managing enquiries and payments for new infrastructure\nWorking with structural specialists on superstructure-related elements\nCarrying out value engineering and peer review of consultant designs\nLiaising with Technical, Planning and Building Control teams to support discharge of planning conditionsWhat you'll need\n\nHNC / HND or higher qualification in an engineering-related discipline\nAround 5+ years' post‑qualification experience (desirable)\nBackground in civil or structural engineering, from consultancy or a residential developer\nExperience or good working knowledge of pre‑planning and planning stage engineering input\nConfidence dealing with highways authorities, utilities and water companies\nStrong coordination and communication skills\nExperience using Autodesk tools: PDS or MicroDrainage experience helpful, not essentialWhat's on offer\n\nCompetitive salary Plus Car allowance, pension, healthcare and additional benefits\nHybrid working\nA supportive, experienced technical team\nStrong development pipeline offering long-term stability\nClear opportunities to progress or move into other business divisionsCould this be one for you?
