Karimix UK Ltd, • a manufacturer of cooking sauces, pastes, chutneys and marinades based in Faversham, Kent, specialising in bringing global flavour profiles to the food service industry. The Original Baker Ltd an award-winning manufacturer crafting premium artisan savoury pastry products and sweet biscuits from its expanding factory, with c.100 employees in Malton, North Yorkshire. About the Role The Group Head of People plays a key role in shaping and executing the People strategy across our Group, a growing portfolio of small and medium sized enterprises operating within the food industry. The Group Head of People oversees the People function, from talent acquisition and employee development to employee engagement, organisational effectiveness and operational HR support. Strategic thinking must be balanced with hands on management, ensuring People practices align with the overall goals of each business unit within the Group. The Group Head of People provides expert guidance, supports acquisitions through due diligence and effective change management, shapes People policies and practices which support high performance and ensures exceptional workplace cultures which attract, develop and retain key talent to deliver our goals. As a key member of the Groups senior leadership team, the Group Head of People contributes to the wider business strategy. Key Responsibilities Oversee, own and lead all aspects of the People function for the Group and associated employees including building and developing a high performing People team. Develop and implement a Group-wide People strategy aligned with overall business objectives. Partner with senior leadership teams to support growth and achievement of business objectives within individual business units. Provide guidance and support to senior leadership teams on organisational design, acquisitions, leadership development, succession planning and workforce planning. Analyse industry trends and provide insights to maintain a competitive advantage in talent attraction, retention and engagement. Collaborate with senior leadership teams to support business transformation and drive culture change initiatives that foster an inclusive and high-performance culture. Oversee day to day HR operations including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, internal communications, compensation and benefits, health and wellbeing, change management, compliance and HRIS management. Implement best practices for talent management, including employee onboarding, training, development and retention strategies tailored to the unique needs of each business. Lead HR initiatives across the Group to ensure consistency in policies and practices whilst recognising the distinct needs of different business units. Promote a culture of employee engagement and trust across the Group, working closely with senior leaders and teams to develop and communicate action plans to drive continuous improvement. Lead initiatives to improve employee satisfaction, engagement and wellbeing including implement regular feedback mechanisms such as colleague surveys, Culture Champion working parties and focus groups. Develop and promote employee recognition programmes to reinforce positive behaviours and results, boost morale and retain top talent. Lead the recruitment and talent acquisition strategy for senior leadership and operational roles. Build and maintain strong partnerships with external recruitment agencies, universities and professional bodies to support the talent pipeline. Implement training and development programmes that focus on leadership growth, technical skill development and team collaboration. Oversee the performance management system across the Group, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and individual needs. Lead succession planning, to identify high-potential employees and prepare them for future leadership roles within the Group. Monitor People metric and KPIs to assess the effectiveness of People strategies and initiatives, identify areas for improvement and support strategic decision making. Provide regular reports to the Senior Leadership Team and investors on People initiatives, workforce performance and opportunities for improvement. Ensure clear roles and responsibilities and Key Success Measures are in place and lead to positive outcomes which support the Groups success. As a key member of the Groups Senior Leadership team input into business strategy, budget sign off processes and ad hoc project work in line with business needs. Support the business growth strategy including due diligence and change management activities relating to potential acquisitions. Champion change initiatives, gaining buy in and challenging where necessary. Propose and manage People budgets, including employee benefits, learning and development, wellbeing and engagement. Support collaboration across business units, maximising efficiencies including sharing resources to manage people and wage costs. Build our Employee Value Proposition and promote our employment brand internally and externally. Review People systems and benefits, proposing improvements and maximising return on investment. Conduct Half Yearly Performance reviews and monthly 1:1s with each People team member, sharing constructive feedback, setting clear Key Success Measures and objectives and supporting personal and professional development as part of a high performance culture. Chair monthly People team meetings, ensuring the team are kept informed and involved. Apply employment law knowledge to ensure legal compliance and effective decision making across the Group. Manage escalated, complex and sensitive employee relations casework. Maintain high levels of trust and confidentiality. Undertake all appropriate training and skills development as necessary to be successful, including keeping up to date with employment law and HR best practice. Demonstrate high Health & Safety standards, recognising the critical importance of our food safety culture. Wear any PPE as required, reporting any loss or damage to a manager. Work in line with the Groups policies and procedures. Role model and promote the Company values and behaviours. Any other duties as reasonably required to meet business needs. Jobholders Competencies, Skills and Experience Advanced People skills underpinned by CIPD L7 and/or Masters degree. Minimum 5 years experience in Head of People role. Robust employment law knowledge and understanding of how this underpins People policies and practices. Commercial acumen. Experience in a fast paced, high growth SME, ideally including food manufacturing. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels. Ability to influence stakeholders. Genuine desire to help others flourish and be the best they can be. Experience building and leading dynamic teams. Highly organised and able to balance day to day activity with multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Credibility and impact to gain trust with direct reports and with the wider business. Confident and considered decision making. Hours : 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, up to 2 days homeworking per week after initial training Location : Based at our Olidor Head Office (Brusco, Offenham near Evesham) with regular travel to our other sites including Kent / Yorkshire / Cheltenham TPBN1_UKTJ
