Commercial Manager – Legal & Contracts Location: Wakefield (Hybrid – Minimum 3 days in the office) Salary: £60k-£75k depending on experience Join a dynamic and forward-thinking organisation as our new Commercial Manager. We're seeking a skilled Commercial Manager with a strong background in legal contracts and commercial governance to play a pivotal role in supporting business operations and strategy. You’ll lead contract negotiations, manage legal risk, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive commercial success across diverse projects and partnerships. What You’ll Be Doing: • Lead and oversee the full contract lifecycle – from development to negotiation, execution, and performance review, • Ensure contractual obligations are met and embedded across teams, • Promote governance in line with internal policies and industry standards, • Drive improvements in contractual performance and identify emerging legal and regulatory trends, • Negotiate and manage contracts, change requests, disputes, and variation orders, • Collaborate with teams on complex international contracts and bids, • Evaluate claims and enforce compliance with corporate governance standards, • Proactively identify and mitigate commercial risks, • Produce high-quality reports and support business case development, • Foster positive business relationships and ensure international trade compliance, • Manage a small team (up to 5) to execute legal and commercial activities effectively What We’re Looking For: Essential Skills & Experience: • Strong customer focus with excellent negotiation and communication skills, • Sound contractual and commercial awareness with business acumen, • Ability to analyse and present complex legal and commercial data at a senior level, • Experience working in engineering, technical, or manufacturing sectors, • Solid understanding of legal compliance and risk management, • Proficiency with contract management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office, • Previous management and leadership experience, • Degree in Law, Business Administration, or a comparable qualification, • Experience managing contracts in line with corporate and international legal standards Desirable: • Knowledge of international contract law, commercial law, and complex project environments, • Experience in international contract management and project-based legal operations You’ll Thrive in This Role If You: • Are a clear and persuasive communicator at all levels, • Can lead with influence and build effective relationships across stakeholders, • Remain calm and strategic under pressure, • Have a keen eye for identifying risks and opportunities, • Are highly organised, autonomous, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, • Embrace continuous improvement and change
