Job Title: Transport General Manager Location: Yorkshire Salary: £55,000 - £75,000+Benefits About the Role We are seeking a highly motivated Transport General Manager to oversee and optimise transport operations at this key location in Yorkshire. This is a key leadership role within this leading transport company ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transport operations while maintaining high service levels for customers. Key Responsibilities Operational Management • Oversee transport operations , ensuring efficient vehicle utilisation and on-time deliveries., • Implement and monitor KPIs to drive continuous improvement in service levels, fuel efficiency, and cost control., • Work closely with site-based transport teams to ensure consistent processes and best practices., • Lead strategic route planning and fleet optimisation to improve efficiency and reduce costs., • Ensure full compliance with all transport regulations, including Operator Licence requirements, DVSA, and Working Time Directive regulations., • Promote a strong health & safety culture across all sites, conducting audits and implementing best practices., • Maintain accurate records for driver hours, tachographs, vehicle inspections, and maintenance schedules., • Lead, develop, and support a team of transport managers, planners, and drivers., • Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities., • Foster a positive working environment that promotes teamwork, accountability, and high performance., • Manage budgets, controlling costs while maintaining operational efficiency., • Identify opportunities to improve profitability through cost-saving initiatives and improved processes., • Work closely with customers to ensure high levels of service and resolve any transport-related issues., • Proven experience in a senior transport or depot management role working for a 3PL or Transport business., • Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation, compliance, and Operator Licence requirements., • Experience and knowledge within general haulage is essential, • Experience managing large HGV fleets and drivers., • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with a track record of team development., • Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets effectively., • Proficient in transport planning systems and fleet management software., • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Transport Management – Essential., • Competitive salary + company car/allowance., • Bonus scheme based on performance., • Pension & benefits package.
