High-Speed Digital & Hardware Design Lead – Bristol Salary: Circa £58,000–£65,000 DOE Security Clearance: British Citizenship (Dual UK nationals with British citizenship may be considered) The Opportunity: This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced High-Speed Digital and Hardware Design Engineer to take the next step in their career and establish themselves as a technical lead in advanced electronics design. You’ll be working at the forefront of next-generation MPSoC FPGA and AI acceleration hardware , developing high-speed digital electronics solutions that power cutting-edge applications in software-defined radio (SDR), radar signal processing, and sensor fusion . Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment, you’ll help shape the architecture, design, and integration of complex digital systems—playing a key role in the delivery of world-class defence and sensing technologies. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the design and development of high-speed digital hardware including MPSoC FPGAs, DDR and Flash memory, and high-speed serial interconnects., • Support the Technical Lead and Systems Architects in defining optimised, elegant solutions that meet demanding system requirements., • Collaborate closely with software, firmware, mechanical and production teams to ensure seamless integration., • Conduct signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) analysis to guarantee robust performance., • Apply VHDL , C/C++ , or Python for board-level testing and debug., • Oversee full lifecycle development from concept through delivery, ensuring high standards of documentation and compliance. What We’re Looking For: • Proven experience in complex, high-speed digital electronics design ., • Expertise with MPSoC FPGA platforms and AI acceleration hardware ., • Strong understanding of DDR, Flash memory, and high-speed serial links ., • Practical experience with SI/PI analysis and simulation tools ., • Proficiency in VHDL , and working knowledge of C/C++ or Python for hardware testing., • Familiarity with DSP concepts for SDR, radar, or sensor applications., • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to guide multi-disciplinary teams., • Excellent technical documentation and configuration control skills.
