\n\n \n \n Job Introduction\n Job description \n At Turning Point, we support people with Learning Disabilities across England. \n As a Support Worker, you will make a real difference to residents' lives as you improve their daily living skills. Passionate about people, you will enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life and career too, as you gain the experience and training you need to progress with us. \n Where will I be working? \n We are providing support for adults with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. \n This supported living service is situated in Lupset, Wakefield and is close to the M1 and bus routes to surrounding villages and the main city centre. The 4 bedroomed service supports 4 adult gentlemen with learning disabilities, health and mobility issues. The people we support can have busy social lives and enjoy a wide variety of activities which can include day trips, shopping, volunteering and attending social groups. An enthusiastic, self-motivated person is required to support with all aspects of daily life and become a part of a friendly and well established team. \n You will be required to provide a person-centred approach in all aspects of the client’s lives, including managing their home, some personal care, accessing their local community facilities, and maintaining contact with other important people in their lives. We tailor our services to enable people to be as independent as possible. You may be asked to attend GP appointments and hospital appointments. A full UK driving license is preferable. \n We use a digital social care record system, to support daily recording, which will make your day-to-day tasks easier and allows you to spend more time with the People We Support. \n Shift Patterns \n This is a 24 hour service, therefore flexibility is essential. You will be working a range of shifts from 7:00am to 2:00/3:00pm and 2:00/3:00 pm to 9:00/10:00pm, sleep ins or waking nights, some weekends. \n Please note that the shifts may vary. \n \n \n \n Role Responsibility\n What will I be doing? \n This is a hands-on job in which no two days are the same. Your duties will include: \n\n • promoting the independence of people we support\n, • supporting a full range of daily activities including cleaning and cooking, days out or going away on holiday\n, • arranging activities in the home and in the local community\n, • developing residents' life skills and personal interests\n, • helping residents stay safe and healthy\n, • assisting with personal care needs\n, • manual handling\n, • supporting people with medication \n, • passionate, caring and enthusiastic\n, • flexible, patient and non-judgemental\n, • a great team player with lots of energy\n, • able to demonstrate good communication skills\n, • able to complete the physical aspects of the role such as manual handling where needed\n, • \n \n Role Profile\n \n \n \n \n\n \n \n Apply \n \n \n
