Mechanical Design Engineer Location: Bury | Type: Permanent | Onsite: Hybrid/as required | Salary: Competitive VIQU IT have partnered with a leading organisation specialising in HVAC and specialist ventilation systems for safety-critical facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of mechanical design projects, drive innovation in HVAC systems, and work closely with senior engineering leadership. The Role As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll design and develop HVAC systems for various building types, ensuring they are energy-efficient, sustainable, and compliant with relevant codes and standards. Key responsibilities include: • Designing HVAC systems including ductwork, piping, and equipment layout., • Performing heating and cooling load calculations using industry-standard software., • Selecting HVAC equipment and preparing technical specifications., • Developing detailed design drawings and documentation using AutoCAD, Revit MEP, or similar tools., • Ensuring compliance with building codes and energy regulations., • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the project life cycle., • Conducting site visits for inspections, commissioning, and troubleshooting., • Preparing cost estimates and supporting procurement processes., • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)., • Proficiency in HVAC design software (eg, Hevacomp)., • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and BIM workflows., • Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer., • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (CIBSE, BS EN)., • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills., • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills., • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines., • Experience in Energy, Defence, Transport, or similar sectors is desirable.
