Arup seeks an Energy Consultant (Electrical) to join our team in Manchester or Sheffield. The role focuses on developing electrical infrastructure and power systems solutions, with an emphasis on HV grid connections, network integration, and the electrification of energy systems. • Support project teams in developing strategies, solutions, and integrated schemes for public and private sector clients., • Undertake technical analysis and modelling of electrical systems to support feasibility studies and early‑stage design of electrical infrastructure., • Prepare technical outputs including reports, calculations, and, where appropriate, electrical schematics or system layouts., • Assist in the delivery of decarbonisation and energy studies, focusing on electrification strategies and power system impacts at estate, city, and regional scales., • Advise clients on power system requirements for low‑carbon projects, including renewable generation, energy storage, and the electrification of heat and transport., • Contribute to HV grid connection studies, engaging with DNOs/TSOs, understanding connection processes, and identifying network constraints and opportunities., • Develop electrical infrastructure solutions, including:, • • HV and LV network design inputs., • • Grid connection strategies and application processes., • • Load assessments and demand analysis., • BSc in Electrical Engineering (power systems focused preferred) and working towards Chartership and membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IET)., • Strong grounding in electrical engineering principles, especially power systems, distribution networks, and infrastructure design basics., • Understanding of HV grid connections, including connection processes, interface with DNOs/TSOs, and grid capacity/constraints., • Interest in energy systems and decarbonisation, including renewables, storage, and low‑carbon infrastructure., • Ability to undertake technical analysis, modelling, and report writing, supported by senior team members., • UK right to work – this role does not meet UK immigration visa sponsorship criteria., • Competitive, fair, and equitable pay., • Private medical insurance, life assurance, accident insurance, and income protection cover., • Flexible benefits to support health and wellbeing, learning opportunities, and impact through work., • Profit share key part of reward.
