As Legal Counsel at SmartSearch you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of the business. Your expertise will guide it through complex legal, data privacy and risk landscapes as it expands. Your work will directly impact SmartSearch’s ability to provide award winning AML & KYC compliance to regulated businesses and win customer through trusted identities. Please note, this is a 6 month contract. VARIED DAY TO DAY RESPONSIBILITIES • Assisting the General Counsel on a variety of strategic matters and issues, • Negotiate and deal with a wide range of commercial contracting issues, including: global framework agreements, client agreements, referral agreements, data-sharing agreements, and software supply contracts, liaising with procurement manager as appropriate, • Advise on legal and data privacy risks on new and ongoing business projects, product launches and go to market offerings, • Draft new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda., • Manage the legal front door and legal inbox where queries can come from many teams within the business, • Draft FAQs and work on AI model for materials to assist business improvements and help manage the company’s overall risk and to increase the ability of employees to self serve, • Help inform and educate colleagues across the business about legal and commercial risk issues, including by providing employee training WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR IN A CANDIDATE? • Qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive with experience advising on a range of commercial and technology related matters, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, • Data privacy experience, • In House experience not essential, • Commercially focussed, • A self-starting attitude and the ability to effectively manage conflicting demands from stakeholders, • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the drafting of contractual terms, ability to interpret and explain contractual provisions for the benefit of all colleagues or deliver training, • Organised, methodical and strong attention to detail, • Strong analytical skills and solution orientated, • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, • Efficiency mindset – to identify efficiencies or better ways of working and seek to implement them, • Hands on curious approach to stay ahead of the ever changing legal and regulatory landscape both for SmartSearch and its client base WHAT IS LIFE LIKE AT SMARTSEARCH? • We are a multi-award winning Tech company with an aspirational mentality, • Some of our most recent recognitions include: named in the renowned RegTech100 list for 2024, listed in the Top 100 Fasted Growing Tech Companies by Northern Tech Awards 2024 as well as being named Technology Provider of the Year by Corporate Finance Awards 2024, • We have been Great Place To Work Certified since 2022, • There are excellent progression opportunities due to our growth and you will have personal development goals, regular feedback and support, • We are a diverse and inclusive team committed to promoting Diversity & Inclusion and Social Responsibility. Main Purpose of the RoleThe Asset Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring that property assets are safe, well-maintained, and financially sustainable over time. This involves assessing how assets are used and making strategic decisions to support their long-term viability.The role requires record keeping and the maintenance of accurate asset databases and information systems. A key responsibility is to monitor compliance with all legal, statutory, contractual, and regulatory obligations, ensuring that the organisation meets its responsibilities.The Asset Manager will work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and timely information on asset management, data and reporting on asset status.Additionally, the role includes overseeing fixed asset registers and offering informed recommendations regarding investment and divestment. The Asset Manager will also perform thorough inspections both prior to and following contractor work to ensure quality and compliance.Key ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will oversee and monitor the inspection regime to ensure adherence to the organisations property requirements and specification. You will conduct property condition surveys as needed, ensuring that any actions are taken to meet the Decent Home Standard.Maintaining and overseeing asset management data is a core task, requiring accurate record-keeping and effective use of systems. As the Asset Manager, you will support the compliance team by offering guidance and by building strong relationships across the organisation. You will lead on asset-related queries, ensuring resident safety by collaborating with both compliance and housing officers.Monitoring compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including health and safety rating systems, will be essential. In this role you will evaluate new assets for suitability and sustainability, making strategic recommendations. You will be expected to drive continuous service improvements and identify innovative solutions where required.Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, partners, and external agencies is key to the successful delivery of this role.
