Role - Leasehold Enfranchisement Paralegal Location - Streatham Salary - £32k The Role: A Paralegal in the Leasehold Services team plays a pivotal role in supporting solicitors and other fee earners in providing comprehensive leasehold-related services. This role involves providing essential support in the management, administration, and resolution of leasehold matters. Roles and responsibilities: • Assisting fee earners with the preparation, review and drafting of leasehold documentation, including leases, licences to assign, deeds of variation and notices., • Assisting fee earners with a caseload of leasehold transactions, such as lease extensions, enfranchisements, and right to manage claims, under supervision., • Conducting legal research on leasehold law, property law and relevant statutory frameworks., • Liaising with clients, landlords, tenants, managing agents and external solicitors to ensure the smooth progression of matters., • Preparing correspondence and reports for clients and internal stakeholders., • Maintaining accurate case files, records and documentation in line with firm policies and regulatory requirements., • Supporting the team in compliance tasks, such as anti-money laundering checks, opening and closing files and dealing with any balances outstanding., • Attending clients' meetings, taking detailed notes and following action plans as required., • Assisted with billing, administration tasks, and any ad hoc duties to support the efficient running of the team., • Diary management for HM Land Registry requisitions and registration deadlines, ensuring that all documentation is completed on time. Person Specification: • Legal Knowledge: A sound understanding of property and leasehold law, and a willingness to develop expertise in leasehold enfranchisement and related areas., • Attention to Detail: Ability to review and draft documents with a high degree of accuracy and spot potential issues. Ability to analyse information, identify solutions and resolve issues proactively., • Organisation: Strong organisational skills to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently. Familiarity with legal case management systems, Microsoft Office applications and online research tools. Previous knowledge of portals for HM Land Registry and Inland Revenue., • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients and drafting legal documents., • Teamwork: A collaborative approach to working within a team environment, supporting colleagues as required., • Client Care: A professional, client-focused attitude, with the ability to build rapport and maintain trust., • Discretion and Integrity: To maintain confidentiality and act with integrity at all times. To be aware of and respect the firm's core values. Qualifications: • Law Degree, completion of a recognised paralegal qualification or working towards the SQE qualification., • Previous experience in a property, conveyancing or leasehold services team., • Knowledge of statutory leasehold processes such as lease extensions and collective enfranchisements., • Experience with working with housing associations, managing agents or in a client-facing legal environment.
