The ideal candidate will ideally be based within an hours commute of our head office in Widnes as you will need to attend the office and travel regionally / nationally as and when required. We’re seeking a dynamic Procurement Category Manager to lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of procurement policies and procedures across our organisation. This pivotal role ensures compliance, efficiency, and value for money while supporting our mission to deliver the best lives possible for the people we support. You’ll work collaboratively with operational leaders, support services, and external suppliers to optimise procurement practices, mitigate risk, and drive innovation. From supplier governance to contract management, you’ll be at the heart of shaping a procurement function that’s fit for the future. Day to Day (list not exhaustive see attached job description) • Lead the development and maintenance of procurement policies aligned with our strategic goals., • Advise on commercial terms for key supplier contracts, working closely with Legal., • Provide training and guidance on procurement best practices across the organisation., • Monitor and report on procurement KPIs to identify trends and improvement opportunities., • Oversee supplier onboarding, due diligence, and contract compliance., • Conduct audits and ensure adherence to regulatory and organisational requirements., • Manage and develop a high-performing procurement team. Our ideal Candidate Qualifications, Skills and Experience Essential: • Proven experience in a senior procurement role within a large, multi-site organisation., • Strong understanding of UK procurement laws and regulations., • Expertise in contract negotiation, supplier management, and process improvement., • Excellent communication, analytical, and stakeholder engagement skills., • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members. Desirable: • CIPS qualification or membership., • Experience in the charity or public sector.
