What you'll be doing As a Meter Reader, you'll visit residential and other properties throughout your allocated area, collecting accurate readings from gas and electric meters using a hand-held electronic device and other equipment. These readings help ensure customers receive accurate and up-to-date bills. You'll be trusted to plan your own route and manage your workload , working towards weekly targets set by your Field Delivery Manager. As you'll spend much of the day out in the field, there may occasionally be longer distances to walk between properties.
