Job overviewTo provide an effective, high quality Financial Management service to managers and clinicians. Provide monthly financial management reports, provide support and advice for managers, undertake financial analyses and investigate queries. Ensure that all relevant financial procedures and guidance are adhered to.Main duties of the jobIn conjunction with Management Accountants provide accurate and timely financial information to non-financial managers, incorporating both financial and non-financial data. Responsible for producing draft budget statements for review by Finance Manager.To maintain and update information in the finance systems, including the calculation of accruals and prepayments, reviewing interfaces from other systems such as payroll and NHS Supplies and the calculation of recharge invoicesTo calculate pay costs for both existing staff establishments and proposed developments. Work with managers to ensure that non-pay budgets reflect the current activity within relevant service areas. To organise and undertake monthly meetings with budget holders where appropriate, to review the financial statements and associated reports. Ensure that variances are highlighted to budget managers, where necessary advising on the causesTo help ensure the full commitment of expenditure within the relevant accounting periods and to assist in the month end financial reporting process.To act independently and show initiative under the supervision of the Deputy Head of Finance.To provide administrative support to the Management Accounts team as well as the Deputy Chief Finance Officer.To assist in the sending out of budget statements and nominal rolls as required by the financial reporting timetable.Working for our organisationThe Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust is the only NHS trust to hold dual accreditation for the Investors in People. Maths / English.- Willing to undertake further training as applicable to the postKnowledge & ExperienceEssential criteria- Experience in a relevant finance environment.- Ability to analyse, interpret and communicate useful finance information from large volumes of data in accordance with strict timetables- Experience of working to strict deadlines- Knowledge and understanding of fundamental accounting principles.- Ability to plan own workload in order to meet strict weekly, monthly and annual deadlines and reassess workload for changing priorities- Ability to work under pressure with constant interruptions at the same time as using considerable prolonged concentrationDesirable criteria- Knowledge of NHS Financial procedures.- Knowledge of budgeting and planning- Knowledge and understanding of financial transactions and accounting procedures.Skills & AttributesEssential criteria- Good written and verbal communication and numeracy skills- High professional standards.- IT literate, including knowledge of spreadsheets and word packages and computerised finance systems.- High level of numeracy, literacy and legibility.- Reliability, speed and accuracy of information produced.- Confident Approach
