Secondary School Supply Teacher Location: Exeter Job Type: Temporary / Daily Supply Hours: 8:30am – 4:00pm We are seeking enthusiastic, adaptable, and dedicated Secondary Supply Teachers to work across a variety of schools in Exeter. This role is ideal for qualified teachers who value flexibility, enjoy working in diverse educational settings, and are committed to making a positive difference to students’ learning experiences. As a Supply Teacher, you will deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of secondary subjects, maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment, and ensure students remain engaged and on task throughout the school day. You will need to confidently adapt to new school environments, quickly build strong relationships with staff and students, and support learners with a variety of academic, behavioural, and additional needs. Key Responsibilities • Deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with school plans and curriculum requirements across secondary subjects, • Create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment, • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting positive engagement and participation, • Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs and abilities of learners, • Support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs where required, • Build and maintain positive professional relationships with students, colleagues, and senior leaders, • Follow all school policies and procedures, including safeguarding and behaviour management, • Provide clear feedback and handover information to class teachers where appropriate, • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and flexibility when working across different schools and year groups Requirements • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Early Career Teacher (ECT), or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, • Previous experience working in a secondary school setting, • Strong classroom management and communication skills, • Flexible, reliable, and professional approach to work, • Ability to adapt quickly to new environments and teaching assignments, • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one Desirable Experience • Experience supporting students with SEN, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or additional behavioural needs, • Training in behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, or trauma-informed practice, • Strong understanding of safeguarding and inclusive education practices What We Offer • Flexible supply work tailored to your availability and lifestyle, • Experience across a range of mainstream and specialist school settings, • Competitive daily rates of pay, • Ongoing support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant, • Access to short-term, long-term, and permanent opportunities If you are a motivated and adaptable teacher looking for flexible work opportunities across Exeter, we would be pleased to hear from you.
