Our client is a leading supplier of SMC & BMC solutions for the Automotive, Electrical & Electronics (E&E), and Construction markets across Europe. They are looking to hire a Technical Manager to join their team. This is a key hire for the business and will be reporting directly into the Managing Director. Key Responsibilities • Full responsibility of the technical department following handover from retiring technical director after almost 50 years’ service, reporting into the Managing director., • Responsibility for product development, using techniques to ensure the highest quality and in accordance with customer requirements., • Strong involvement in R&D projects at local and group level., • Gaining experience and knowledge of company practices and moulding technology to support progression within the business., • Providing excellent technical support to customers, • Oversee quality testing and specifications, in-line formulation changes when necessary. Day to Day Activities • Research and Development, • Organising Production Prototyping, • Optimising formulations, • Accounting for batch-to-batch variability, • Plan the work for the following week and issues for the month, • Liaising with production and quality for production schedules, • Maintain record of plan, take note and escalate any issues promptly, • Maintaining customer relationships, • Lead technical project appraisals and approvals., • Liaise with customers on requirements, testing and technical data sheets., • Offer technical support to moulders/customers and their respective OEM’s, • Firefighting customer issues, with technical support in the event of quality issues., • Understand and track changes with market trends and future opportunities and risks., • Potential innovation/ development of new ideas and applications with regards both SMC/BMC and raw materials., • Point of escalation for quality control failures.
