Role: Audit and Accounts Senior Location: Sunderland Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours, based on site The role involves preparation and auditing of accounts for a variety of client types including limited companies, charities, partnerships, and sole traders. The successful candidate will work with clients from a variety of sectors including engineering, leisure and hospitality, solicitors and charities. The role requires attendance at clients’ sites across the North East. Key Responsibilities: • Preparation of accounts from a variety of clients' systems – Sage, Xero, QuickBooks etc., • Preparation of corporation tax computations, • Actioning queries raised by accounts and tax managers on the accounts and working papers prepared, • Finalisation of the accounts following client meetings, • Acting as a point of contact for clients for ad hoc queries, • Preparation of management accounts and VAT returns, • Lead audit assignments, which will include planning, fieldwork and completion using standard programmes including specialist audits e.g. SAR and charities, • Be ACA/ACCA/AAT qualified or finalist or be qualified by experience, • Ideally have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in an accounting practice, • Have a strong technical knowledge and be up to date with current legislation, • Have good training and mentoring skills, • Have experience of preparation of year end accounts for owner-managed small to medium businesses including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies, • Have experience in statutory auditing, • Be able to work to tight deadlines and budgets, • Be driven and proactive, ensuring that our commitment to providing excellent service levels to our clients is met, • Have a good knowledge of accounting software packages such as Sage, QuickBooks and Xero would be advantageous, • Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, • Have good organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail, • Be keen to take on additional responsibilities and make recommendations for business and process improvements, • Preparation of charity accounts, • Audit of charities, • A competitive salary, • Auto enrolment contributory pension scheme, • Up to 33 days annual leave (including bank holidays), • Flexible working hours, • Extensive learning and development opportunities, • Study support would be considered for the right candidate, • The ability to accrue Time off in Lieu (TOIL)
