As a Senior Social Worker, you will ensure that children placed with Regulation 24 Family and Friends foster carers are safeguarded. You will also make sure that foster carers are well-informed of their responsibilities according to standards, regulations, and procedures, all while providing guidance and support. You must be Social Work England registered, with a professional social work qualification and substantial post-qualification experience in fostering, along with an understanding and experience of the Special Guardianship Order (SGO) process and assessments. What you will do: • Ensure children placed in foster care are well protected and foster carers understand their roles fully., • Build and maintain positive relationships with foster carers and the children in their care., • Supervise a caseload of foster carers, providing assessments and ensuring adherence to timelines and standards., • Engage in direct work with children to understand their experiences within the placement., • Provide support and guidance to foster carers in managing children's challenging behaviour and emotional needs., • Coordinate planned breaks for foster carers and ensure their needs and concerns are addressed., • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to incorporate the child's voice in all care aspects., • Manage and report concerns, responding to care plans and facilitating changes for children’s best interests., • Ensure foster carers receive relevant training and resources for effective caregiving, focusing on children’s education and future preparation., • Maintain and update relevant administrative systems and reports in a timely manner., • Participate actively in supervision, appraisals, and team meetings, providing office and out-of-hours duty cover as required., • Uphold safeguarding practices and adhere to all Slough Children First policies and national legislation.
