Proposals Engineer\n\nHybrid Working | 3 Days On-Site / 2 Days Remote | Flexible Hours \nFull-Time | Sheffield\nSalary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)The Opportunity\n\nWe're supporting a UK-based engineering and technology organisation specialising in the design and delivery of complex control, automation, and digital systems.\n\nThe business operates across a range of regulated industrial sectors, delivering integrated technology solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and operational performance in critical environments.\n\nThis is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering high-quality technical and commercial proposals across a range of complex engineering projects. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop tailored solutions, contribute to competitive bids, and support the full tender lifecycle.\n\nThis role would suit someone who enjoys blending technical insight with commercial thinking, and who thrives in a collaborative, detail-focused environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nAnalyse customer requirements and develop cost-effective technical solutions\nProduce high-quality, compliant tender submissions (technical & commercial)\nCreate conceptual designs (control systems, PLC/SCADA, networks, infrastructure)\nDevelop accurate cost estimates including BoMs and engineering hours\nWork closely with engineering, supply chain, and sales teams\nSupport pre- and post-tender discussions with internal stakeholders\nParticipate in tender reviews and risk assessments\nManage multiple bids simultaneously and track progress\nContribute to continuous improvement of proposal processesExperience & Knowledge Required:\n\nBackground in electrical, control, automation, or safety systems engineering\nUnderstanding of the full project lifecycle\nFamiliarity with functional safety (SIL, ESD, F&G systems)\nAbility to interpret technical specifications and define scope/risk\nExperience with PLC hardware, control panels, and system architecture\nExposure to estimating, costing, or BoM creation is advantageous\nDegree/HND (or equivalent) in a relevant disciplineSkills & Attributes:\n\nStrong technical writing and documentation skills\nCommercial awareness and risk identification ability\nExcellent attention to detail and organisational skills\nConfident communicator, able to work cross-functionally\nAble to manage workload independently while contributing to a teamBenefits:\n\nHybrid working (3 days office / 2 days remote)\nFlexible working hours + early finish Fridays\n25 days holiday + bank holidays (with buy/sell scheme)\nPrivate medical insurance & life assurance\nPension scheme\nProfessional membership support\nEmployee wellbeing programme (including GP access & EAP)\nEnhanced family-friendly policiesPlease contact Coral at DCS to apply.\n\nINDENG\n\nDCS Recruitment and all associated companies are committed to creating a working environment where diversity is celebrated and everyone is treated fairly, regardless of gender, gender identity, disability, ethnic origin, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital or transgender status, age, or nationality
