Tennial Personnel are actively seeking an experienced and hands-on Production Team Leader to join a growing, family-run manufacturing business based in Risby, near Bury St Edmunds. This is a temporary to permanent opportunity after a successful 12 week working period, working Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm with a 1-hour unpaid break, offering an hourly rate of £14.00–£15.00 per hour depending on experience. Reporting directly to the Production Manager, this role sits within an exciting and rapidly developing sector and plays a key part in delivering a critical first production run of a newly designed product. You will lead a mixed team of Production Operators and Production Technicians while remaining actively involved on the production floor, promoting a strong focus on safety, quality, structure, and on-time delivery. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Coordination • Lead, supervise, and support a team of Production Operators and Production Technicians • Manage day-to-day production activities for teams typically ranging from 2 to 10 people • Allocate tasks and balance workloads to meet production priorities and deadlines • Act as the first point of escalation for technical, quality, and safety issues • Coach and support team members to maintain consistent standards of workmanship • Promote a disciplined, safe, and collaborative working environment Hands-On Production • Actively participate in mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly activities • Use specialist and precision hand tools, including torque screwdrivers and calibrated tools • Ensure all work is completed in line with engineering drawings and work instructions • Carry out in-process checks and final build reviews where required Quality, Safety & Process • Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times • Reinforce adherence to defined and emerging production processes • Support inspection, documentation, and traceability requirements • Identify process gaps, risks, or inefficiencies and provide constructive feedback • Promote a right-first-time, quality-focused culture on the production floor Skills Required Strong technical background in mechanical and/or electromechanical assembly Proven experience leading or supervising teams in a production or workshop environment Confidence using specialist and precision hand tools Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions Calm, structured, and pragmatic approach to problem-solving Strong communication skills with the ability to lead by example Qualifications Required Experience within low-volume, high-mix or bespoke manufacturing environments Exposure to pressure testing, electrical testing, or controlled lifting operations Familiarity with quality systems, traceability, or regulated manufacturing environments Experience supporting first-of-type or first production runs Keywords Team Leader Production
