Branch Manager – Industrial Engineering Services Ware, Hertfordshire £65,000 – £75,000 + Company Vehicle The Business Our client is a long-established, independent UK engineering business (est. 1966), specialising in: • Industrial doors, shutters & access solutions, • Steel fabrication & structural works The Hertford branch is a key operation within the group: • Circa £5M turnover, • 23 engineers + office team, • 16,500 sq ft facility The Opportunity We are seeking a Branch Manager to take full responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and performance of the Hertford operation. This role has arisen due to internal progression, with the current leadership moving into a wider regional position. You will benefit from a supported transition, with ongoing access to experienced leadership and operational guidance. This is a hands-on leadership role, offering autonomy to run a well-established branch while maintaining and building on its current success. Key Responsibilities • Full accountability for branch performance, operations and P&L, • Leadership of field-based engineers, workshop teams and office staff, • Oversight of installation, service, maintenance and reactive works, • Effective labour planning and resource allocation, including out-of-hours support, • Ensuring contracts are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably, • Managing and supporting sales activity and contract acquisition, • Maintaining strong relationships with key and local clients, • Driving margin performance, cost control and operational efficiency, • Identifying and developing growth and expansion opportunities, • Ownership of health & safety, quality and environmental standards, • Full HR responsibility including recruitment, development, performance management and team engagement What We’re Looking For • Proven experience in a Branch Manager / Operations Manager / Senior leadership role, • Ideally from an industrial doors, access solutions or engineering services background, • Experience managing field-based engineering teams and service delivery operations, • Strong understanding of P&L, margins and commercial performance, • Confident balancing technical, operational and commercial priorities, • Strong leadership style — able to be hands-on, visible and decisive, • Ability to build credibility quickly with both engineers and senior stakeholders, • Solid understanding of health & safety and compliance requirements, • Excellent communication skills across all levels We are open to candidates from aligned sectors (e.g. Facilities Management or wider engineering services) where strong transferable skills are evident.
