This program focuses on enhancing the Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) of Black/African American (B/AA) students in grades 3-8. The program will be held at multiple school locations in Los Angeles (Lawndale), four times a week for eight months, tentatively scheduled from October 2025 to May 2026 (30 student sessions per 8 schools). Position Expectations: * Conversation Facilitation: Able to effectively introduce topics to young students and encourage competent conversations amongst the group, relevant to the session's topic. * Group Management: Ability to manage various classroom activities and multitask when dealing with varying classroom personalities. * Punctuality: The class sessions run a little over an hour; being prompt and ready for the session is a requirement. * Group Check-Ins: Mandatory check-ins and meetings will be scheduled with the Program Manager and other executive team members. As a staff member of 100 BMLA, the Facilitator will be responsible for: * Activity Design and Implementation: Collaborate with staff to design and implement activities that encourage attendees' social-emotional learning development and assist students with program assignments and projects * Progress Reporting: Maintain bi-weekly communication with the leadership team, providing updates on program objectives, classroom management, and school support. * Role Modeling: Interact with youth to build self-esteem, foster positive peer relationships, and provide emotional support and guidance * Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings and in-service training as needed * Time Management: Ensure punctuality for one-hour sessions, avoiding delays or extensions. * Literacy Promotion: Read provided books with students to encourage literacy and critical thinking * Incentive Distribution: Distribute pizzas to students as an incentive for participation Initial Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or higher preferred * 12 months of experience (paid or volunteer) working with and monitoring school-aged children (ages 4-14).
