Job Description Job Title: Surgical Scheduler Job Description As a Surgical Scheduler, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients, ensuring a seamless and positive experience both in person and over the phone. Your role involves greeting patients courteously, managing their appointments, and addressing their inquiries promptly. You will handle insurance verifications, coordinate surgical schedules, and ensure all procedures are accurately scheduled. Responsibilities • Answer phone calls from patients and address inquiries promptly., • Meet with patients in person and serve as their primary point of contact (POC)., • Maintain a dedicated phone line for patient communication., • Manage and coordinate the doctor’s surgical schedule., • Communicate effectively with hospitals regarding surgical orders and scheduling., • Ensure all surgical orders are accurate and completed on time., • Verify insurance coverage for procedures and appointments., • Coordinate and confirm pre-admission testing requirements., • Perform clearance checks to ensure patients are ready for surgery., • Be proactive in resolving issues, such as when a patient is not cleared for cardiology—anticipate next steps and adjust scheduling accordingly., • Identify opportunities to move patients up if earlier slots become available., • Take initiative and maintain clear, professional communication at all times., • Proficient in customer service and medical terminology., • Experience in appointment and surgical scheduling., • Ability to verify insurance and manage medical scheduling., • Tech-savvy with experience in systems like Athena., • High school diploma or GED., • Organized and able to show initiative., • Strong communication skills and reliability., • Personable with excellent customer service skills.
