American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in San Diego, California. • Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 18 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool with at least 2 years of PICU or strong CVICU experience and a valid CA RN license. • Position is in the Pediatric Critical Care Float Pool, covering PICU, CTICU, and NICU units, • Patient population includes critically ill pediatric, cardiac, and neonatal patients, • Potential assignment to advanced care modalities including ECMO and neonatal intensive care, • Assignment length is 18 weeks with both day (7:00-19:00) and night (19:00-7:00) 12-hour shifts, • Required to work a mix of 4-5 weekend day shifts (Sat-Sun) and 5-6 weekend night shifts (Fri-Sat) per schedule block, • Float to units within the hospital, including potential satellite locations for NICU, • On-call coverage is required, • Epic charting experience is used, • Free traveler parking is available, • Scrub color is any color, • Responsibilities include caring for critically ill children, cardiac ICU, and neonatal ICU patients, with rotating unit assignments based on staffing needs, • Average daily pediatric census is 250, with a 24-bed PICU, 30-bed CTICU, and 60-bed NICU, • Modules must be completed prior to start and are not part of orientation hours, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Maximum of 6 days requested time off allowed, with at least 3 shifts worked per week, • Mileage reimbursement is provided for required travel between designated locations for NICU assignments, • Position is in a teaching hospital that is Magnet recognized and Level 1 trauma designated, • Active CA RN license required and must be in hand by start date, • Minimum 2 years recent PICU experience or strong CVICU background with floating experience, • Current BLS and PALS certifications required, • Flu vaccination required, • Experience with Epic EMR, • Travel or floating experience preferred, • Must be willing to work 2 out of 3 holidays, including holiday eves, • Locals within a 50-mile radius are not accepted, • Perm staff must wait one year before eligible to travel, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-615630.
