The Englewood Health Physician Network has primary care and specialty care practices throughout northern New Jersey and Rockland County and is affiliated with the nationally recognized Englewood Hospital. POSITION DESCRIPTION POSITION TITLE: HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: EXEMPT REPORTS TO: PRACTICE ADMINISTRATOR JOB SUMMARY: The Human Resource Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resource Department including recruitment, retention, new hire orientation, employee relations, performance management, payroll, benefits administration, and compensation administration. The Human Resource Generalist supervises employees who perform accounts payable and general accounting duties. This position requires broad knowledge of the various aspects of Human Resources and employment regulations. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Human Resources • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions. Collaborates with team leaders to understand skills and competencies required for openings. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications. Implements new hire orientation and facilitates onboarding process for new employees., • Practices strong engagement with all team members and assists in the development of programs for sustaining positive employee relations and positive culture building., • Implements programs, policies, and processes to facilitate employee and organizational development. Provides counseling and direction to employees, facilitates communication, and helps to resolve conflicts that impact employee engagement. Provides counsel and support to management on issues of company/HR policy application. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and team leaders, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the Practice Administrator., • Conducts ER investigations, analyzes organizational health issues, and assists in the development and execution of plans to address problem areas. Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations., • Maintains personnel records and handles requests for employment verification., • Assists with the performance management process providing counsel and support to management on performance development and performance improvement processes., • Prepares reports and identifies trends in employee related issues, turnover and performance trends, and provides recommendations for solutions to leadership. Human Resources (Continued) • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and certifications. Helps to create and implement training for team leadership and employee development., • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations (such as ADA, FMLA, FLSA, harassment, discrimination, diversity, corrective action and progressive discipline). Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law. Benefits Administration • Coordinates benefits processing including enrollments, terminations, COBRA, status changes, beneficiary changes, disability, and FMLA. Maintains administrative procedures for benefits processing in compliance with applicable government regulations. Ensures timeliness and accuracy of reporting requirements. Maintains employee benefits files and updates employee payroll records to reflect benefit changes., • Documents and administers leaves of absences including FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and COVID. Assists in evaluating disability accommodations. Assists team leaders on best practices in managing leave of absences and the return-to-work process., • Administers the 401K plan ensuring that distributions and company contributions are processed in a timely fashion. Payroll Administration • Processes bi-weekly payroll by entering, maintaining, and recording information in the payroll system including employee hourly rates, salaries, time worked, paid leave, deductions and withholdings, address changes, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions and or information. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires and terminations. Maintains accurate leave balances related to holidays, vacation, medical leave, etc. Provides support to departments and employees related to payroll inquiries., • Processes semi-monthly partner physician payroll through QuickBooks., • Supervises employees performing accounts payable and general accounting duties to ensure activities, including the reconciliation of daily office receivables, recording of expenses, and reconciliation of bank statements, is timely and accurate. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field required and 5+ years of progressive Human Resource professional experience. Training in Federal and state laws and application of HR policy in a professional environment and positive employee relations. Proficient in MS Office (Word, PPT, Excel) and HRIS systems. Experience in the use of ADP/ADP Workforce or other related systems. PHR/SPHR Certification preferred.
