Job Description Tax Strategy CPA — The Job Other Firms Won't Give You This isn't a compliance role. We're looking for a CPA who gets genuinely fired up about tax strategy — someone who'd rather spend an afternoon structuring an S-corp election or walking a client through a cost segregation study than grinding through a stack of W-2 returns. At Accent Financial Services, we work with profitable business owners and high-net-worth individuals who pay us to think. We handle the complex, strategic, high-leverage work that other firms refer out. We need a CPA with the ambition and horsepower to own that work, run point on client strategy, and help us grow. If you're hungry to do work that actually moves the needle for clients — and to be paid accordingly — keep reading. Compensation: $100,000 base, full-time. Bonus and growth track available for the right fit. What You'll Own • Complex client tax work — multi-state filings, K-1 heavy returns, real estate, partnerships, S-corps, and high-net-worth individuals. The returns that make other CPAs call their mentor., • Tax reviews — you're the final set of eyes before a return goes out. Catch issues, coach the preparer, protect the client, sign with confidence., • Tax strategy meetings — quarterly and year-end planning with business owners. Entity structuring, retirement vehicles, depreciation strategy, owner compensation, Section 199A, cost seg, 1031s. The stuff that makes clients say, "Why didn't my last CPA tell me this?", • IRS resolution — notices, audits, offers in compromise, installment agreements, penalty abatement. Be the calm professional when a client is panicking., • Review accounting and bookkeeping work — month-end closes, financial statement review, making sure the books are returnable before tax season starts., • Active CPA license (required)., • 4+ years of public accounting experience with strong tax exposure., • Real fluency with business returns (1120, 1120-S, 1065) and complex individual returns (1040 with K-1s, Schedule E, multi-state)., • A genuine interest in strategy, not just compliance. You should get more satisfaction from saving a client $40K in tax than from filing 40 returns., • Sharp client communicator — you can explain a §1031 exchange or a reasonable-comp analysis without making anyone feel stupid., • High-ownership mindset. You move work forward without needing someone standing over you., • IRS representation experience (Circular 230, Form 2848, collections)., • QuickBooks Online proficiency and the eye to spot a misclassified expense from across the room., • Experience reviewing staff work and mentoring preparers., • A book of clients or referral network you'd bring with you — we'll reward this., • $100,000 base compensation with clear growth levers., • A client roster worth working with — profitable businesses, long-term relationships, minimal one-off tire-kickers., • Strategy is the job, not a side hustle — you'll spend real time advising, not just preparing., • A team that respects the work — your reviews get read, your recommendations get implemented., • Reasonable workload — we don't stack 80 returns on one CPA and ask them to review 40 more., • Professional development and CPE covered — plus an owner who wants you learning the sharpest strategies on the market., • Path to ownership — real equity conversation on the table for the right long-term fit. Tax season is still tax season — we won't pretend otherwise. Outside of the crunch, we protect your evenings and weekends, and we believe the work should be interesting enough that you want to show up for it. We're small enough that what you do matters, and stable enough that your job doesn't depend on chasing every new trend. We're not the cheapest firm in town and we're not trying to be. Our clients pay us well for careful, strategic work, and we pay you accordingly. How to Apply Apply through ZipRecruiter. In the cover letter or first message, include a short note (3–5 sentences) about the most interesting tax strategy or IRS situation you've personally worked through. We care about how you think far more than where you went to school. We review every application personally. If you're the right fit, you'll hear from us within a week. Responsibilities • Prepare and sign complex business and individual tax returns, • Review returns prepared by staff accountants, • Lead quarterly and year-end tax strategy meetings with business-owner clients, • Represent clients before the IRS on notices, audits, and collections, • Review bookkeeping and financial statement work for accuracy, • Lead client meetings for onboarding, planning, and advisory, • Develop and sharpen firm-wide tax strategy processes, • Active CPA license (required), • 4+ years of public accounting experience with a tax focus, • Hands-on experience with 1120, 1120-S, 1065, and complex 1040 returns, • Multi-state tax experience, • Strong client-facing communication and advisory skills, • Passion for tax strategy — not just compliance, • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (preferred), • $100,000 base salary (bonus available), • Professional development and CPE fully covered, • Path to ownership / equity conversation for long-term fit, • Protected time outside of tax season, • High-quality client roster — no tire-kickers, • Small, stable firm with real autonomy and real growth potentialCompany DescriptionAccent Financial Services is a boutique tax, accounting, and advisory firm based in Allen, TX — and we've been at this for 40 years.
