The Fundamental Purpose of the Position:To provide professional-level assistance and support services for youth between the ages of 9 through 18 in the following areas:, • Prevention of violent behavior or behavior harmful to the youth or others, • Crises behavior management, • Symptomatology of youth diagnosed with mental disorders or addictions., • Indications, typical side effects, reactions, and interactions of medications prescribed for self-administration by youth, • Behavior management skills and activity supervision, • Resources for obtaining assistance when needed., • Youth Record-Keeping of Youth Activities, • Youth Record keeping of progress toward treatment goals and objectives., • Skill in the provision of recreational and social activities, • Skill in the provision of Life Skills training and Milieu activitiesB. Description of Environment: Home for youth 9 through 18 years of age who are struggling emotionally, behaviorally, and academically. Main Office for staff professional development and clerical needs outside the group homes. C. Supervision:, • The degree of supervision varies with the complexity of work assignments & the experience of the skilled worker. Company Leader's involvement.D. Essential and Specific Functions:, • Duties are appropriate to an area of competence suitable to a Direct Care Worker & Supervisor., • Ensure Client Rights are protected, • Conduct Life Space Interviews to assist youth in seeking alternative behavior to unacceptable conduct., • Ensures compliance with safety and sanitation requirements of youth and others., • Prepares and submits written and oral reports and gathers pertinent information regarding all incidents., • Interacts with youth to enhance youth behavior., • Performs other assigned duties that contribute to Youth Program objectives and the employee's career development. E. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:, • Communicate orally with youth, family members, and the public using a telephone, in a face-to-face, one-to-one setting, and in a group setting in the English language., • Comprehend and make inferences from material written in the English language., • Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar., • Work under mild pressure (i.e., handling significant problems and tasks simultaneously and/or unexpectedly and approaching deadlines)., • Operate keyboard devices such as calculators, PCs, and CRTs., • Establish priorities for workload based upon such factors as needed for immediate action, work objectives, and schedules., • Exercise independent initiative and judgment under general supervision., • Work cooperatively with youth, youth family members, other employees, and the public., • Learn job-related material through formal and informal training, written and oral instruction, and observation to effectively perform job duties under general supervision., • Must possess good temperament and acceptable interpersonal communication skillsF. Additional Requirements before employment:, • Must be 21 years of age, • Must be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and crisis intervention level 2, • Must possess an Arizona Driver’s License., • Must pass the Department of Public Safety Fingerprint background check/Must have a Fingerprint Clearance Card, • Must receive an annual physical and written statement from a physician (before employment) stating that the applicant is free of communicable diseases., • Must have a high school diploma/general education certificate or equivalent.
