The Physician Assistant will provide routine, acute, and chronic care management services to military beneficiaries in a Family Health Clinic environment. The provider will evaluate patients, diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatments, perform preventative healthcare services, and collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure quality patient care. The Physician Assistant will support military readiness and continuity of care while maintaining compliance with Defense Health Agency (DHA), Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), and Joint Commission standards. The provider will participate in clinical quality improvement activities, continuing education, mandatory military healthcare training, and electronic medical documentation requirements. General Duties Provide services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) Director. Perform all duties in accordance with the contract Performance Work Statement (PWS), DHA policies, and MTF regulations. Maintain professional standards, clinical competency, patient confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance. Participate in peer review, quality assurance, risk management, and performance improvement activities. Utilize electronic medical record systems including MHS GENESIS, CHCS, AHLTA, and Essentris as required. Maintain responsiveness to official government communications, including DHA email and voicemail systems. Comply with infection control, safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and annual mandatory training requirements. Specific Duties Primary Care Services Provide comprehensive family medicine services including patient evaluations, diagnosis, treatment planning, follow-up care, and preventive healthcare services for patients across the lifespan. Acute and Chronic Disease Management Evaluate and manage common acute illnesses, chronic medical conditions, and minor injuries in accordance with evidence-based medical guidelines and approved treatment protocols. Preventive Healthcare Conduct annual physical examinations, wellness visits, immunizations, health screenings, and patient education focused on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle practices. Medication Management Prescribe medications, therapies, and treatments in accordance with approved formularies, clinical privileges, and DHA guidelines. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures Perform authorized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice and clinical privileges granted by the MTF. Care Coordination Collaborate with physicians, nurses, specialists, ancillary staff, and case management teams to coordinate comprehensive patient care and referrals. Medical Documentation Document patient encounters, treatment plans, assessments, procedures, and follow-up instructions accurately and timely within the electronic medical record system. Patient Education Educate patients and family members regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, preventive care, and chronic disease management. Military Readiness Support Assist with medical readiness requirements, occupational health assessments, and military-specific healthcare initiatives as required by the clinic. Continuing Education and Training Participate in mandatory military healthcare training, continuing medical education, in-service programs, and competency maintenance activities. Qualifications Degree: Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program. Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). Certification Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or obtained within three months of start date Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required or obtained within three months of start date Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) certification required or obtained within six months of start date Experience Experience sufficient to meet DHA clinical competency and credentialing requirements. Prior experience in family medicine, urgent care, primary care, military medicine, or outpatient clinical settings is highly preferred. Licensure Must possess a current, full, active, and unrestricted Physician Assistant license in any U.S. state, territory, or District of Columbia. Skills and Abilities Strong knowledge of family medicine and primary care practices Ability to independently evaluate and manage patients Excellent clinical judgment and diagnostic skills Strong patient communication and counseling abilities Knowledge of preventive medicine and chronic disease management Ability to work in a fast-paced military clinical environment Proficiency with electronic medical records systems Strong teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration skills Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance Effective time management and organizational skills Schedule Monday through Friday. Typical duty hours include: 0730 – 1630 0800 – 1700 0815 – 1715 Schedule will be coordinated with clinic leadership during onboarding. Employees receive a one-hour lunch break. Work Environment This position is performed in a military outpatient healthcare clinic environment within the 633rd Medical Group at Langley Air Force Base. The provider will work closely with military and civilian healthcare professionals while supporting active-duty military personnel, retirees, and dependents.
