JOB PURPOSE The SNAP Outreach Specialist supports The Just One Project's mission by connecting eligible individuals and families to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This position focuses exclusively on SNAP outreach, education, and enrollment, ensuring that clients understand and access the benefits available to them. The SNAP Outreach Specialist builds partnerships, conducts community outreach events, assists with SNAP applications, and maintains compliance with all state and federal guidelines under the supervision of the Supportive Services Manager. ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS As a mission driven nonprofit organization, all employees are required to contribute to organization wide initiatives that support community impact. This includes participation in up to (6) six Pop-Up and Give events annually. These occur outside of standard business hours and are scheduled on the third Saturday of the month. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Community Outreach and Engagement • Represent The Just One Project at community events, food distributions, and partner meetings to promote SNAP awareness and enrollment., • Conduct outreach presentations, workshops, and one-on-one sessions to educate the community about SNAP benefits and eligibility requirements., • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, agencies, and local businesses to strengthen SNAP referral networks., • Coordinate and maintain a schedule of outreach events, ensuring coverage, materials, and engagement metrics are tracked., • Distribute SNAP materials, brochures, and applications in alignment with program branding and state requirements., • Conduct client pre-screenings to assess SNAP eligibility and guide clients through the application process., • Assist clients in completing SNAP applications, gathering required documentation, and submitting to DWSS for approval., • Provide follow-up support to ensure applications are processed and clients receive updates from DWSS., • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with SNAP and DWSS guidelines in all client interactions., • Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, client data, and application outcomes in accordance with SNAP Outreach program standards., • Track and compile data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to meet grant and state reporting deadlines., • Assist the Supportive Services Manager in monitoring SNAP program compliance and implementing corrective actions as needed., • Participate in program audits, trainings, and DWSS partner meetings as directed., • Work collaboratively with the Supportive Services Manager, Case Managers, and program staff to align outreach activities with organizational priorities., • Participate in departmental meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities., • Support other outreach initiatives as needed, provided they align with SNAP program guidelines., • Contribute to a positive, mission-driven team culture that reflects The Just One Project's core values.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Social Work, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted., • 3+ years of experience in community outreach, client services, or public assistance preferred., • Experience with SNAP, DWSS, or other benefit programs strongly preferred., • Knowledge of Clark County community resources and public assistance systems., • Proficiency in data entry and documentation; Salesforce experience preferred., • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required., • Must obtain and maintain a valid Nevada Food Handlers Card within thirty days of hire due to required participation in food distribution events., • Must maintain reliable transportation in order to travel to outreach events.REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES, • Mission-Driven: Demonstrates values consistent with The Just One Project's mission and culture, • Client-Centered Approach: Understands and proactively addresses client needs while fostering trust and rapport, • Communication: Clear and compassionate communicator in both individual and group settings., • Organization: Manages multiple outreach events, applications, and reports with attention to detail., • Data Integrity: Ensures all records and reports are accurate, timely, and compliant., • Cultural Competence: Demonstrates sensitivity to diverse backgrounds and community needs., • Problem-Solving: Identifies barriers and provides creative, resourceful solutions for client access., • Collaboration: Works effectively with colleagues, partners, and external agencies.WORK SCHEDULE AND CLASSIFICATION, • This is a full-time, non-exempt position, requiring approximately 40 hours per week, • This position is scheduled to work approximately 40 hours per week., • Evening, weekend, event based, or on call work may be required depending on program and operational needs., • Primarily operates in an office environment and community-based settings., • Regular use of computer, phone, and other standard office equipment., • Frequent speaking, hearing, and visual acuity required for presentations and data entry., • Occasionally required to stand, walk, bend, or lift up to 25 lbs during outreach events. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screening, motor vehicle report, employment verification, and reference checks, as permitted by law.
