Job Description Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor or other Manager, the HVAC Mechanic “A” will lead the daily operation of the HVAC/R shop at the College. This position will be responsible for the ongoing temperature control and comfort of the heating and cooling systems at the College to support academic, lab, administrative, and specialized HVAC/R systems. POSITION SUMMARY Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs complex HVAC/R systems including water and oil pumps, water analysis and chemical treatment systems, air compressors, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical controls, refrigeration, heating, cooling and ventilating equipment, filters, condensers, cooling towers, evaporators, and heat exchangers., • Responds to HVAC system complaints, performs troubleshooting of systems and provides feedback to Supervisors and Managers on progress., • Plans and performs preventative maintenance tasks for College HVAC/R systems to optimize system performance and energy efficiency., • Installs electric power, piping, controls and duct work to replace, maintain or to install new equipment., • Maintains logs, checklists, and prepares written reports to Supervisor, as appropriate., • Enters information into the College’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document all work, parts used, system conditions, hours worked, and leverages system data., • Ensures compliance with all safety standards, buildings codes, and environmental regulations., • Leverages Building Automation and Building Management Systems (BAS/BMS) to prioritize, document, and improve system performance and facility comfort., • Monitor and oversee College and contractor staff, as needed., • Attends training sessions and meetings to stay current on all trade, College, and regulatory requirements, • Maintains the cleanliness and orderliness of department spaces., • Prepares list of materials required to maintain inventory and complete projects., • Must respond to emergencies and maintenance tasks, as required, which may include working off-hours or holidays., • Reports to the College during closures and assists with snow and ice clearing operations, as needed., • Performs any other duties or task as may be assigned. SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Vocational School education or an appropriate apprenticeship preferred. Completion of a Journeyman level training program in HVAC/R or associate’s degree in HVAC/R Experience: • Minimum of Six years’ experience maintaining and repairing sophisticated commercial and industrial air conditioning systems including electric/pneumatic controls, fume hoods, high capacity centrifugal refrigeration equipment and roof top units., • Must be EPA Certified Universal Technician in accordance with Section 608 to handle CFCs, HCFCs, and HFCs, • Must have NJ Blue Seal Refrigeration, • Additional state or local licenses and certifications is a plus, • Experience working in an inclusive, collaborative, and respectful team setting. The Associate Director, Manufacturing Operations is responsible for efficient utilization of Operations resources to meet customer demand. This role will be responsible for maintaining and overseeing the site Operations scheduling and training capacities for a time period looking ahead to the next 3-6 months. The Associate Director, Manufacturing Operations will understand upcoming needs and constraints and help drive strategy accordingly. This includes the management of all Operations scheduling, training and compliance resources. The Associate Director, Manufacturing Operations is also responsible for assessing the needs of the company to contribute to the big picture by ensuring daily operations run smoothly and as efficiently as possible. This role will also drive individual and team development to ensure a prepared and empowered workforce to become the provider of choice for the industry. • Meeting client process demands through planning, scheduling, manufacture and delivery of clinical cell therapy products according to established procedures, regulations and contracts, • Looking out 3-6 months to ensure capacity and availability of resources (room/equipment/staff) to perform clinical manufacture for processing needs, • Manages all training and compliance activities in the Operations organization, • Responsible for creating, enforcing and measuring Operator training schedules in order to ensure that all production schedules can be carried out, • Creates and maintains a process to ensure that personnel schedules are being accurately and fairly assigned to all Associates, • Supporting and driving special long-term projects and identified and assigned by the PPU Head, • Responsible for creating maintaining and communicating all Operations based KPI’s, • Ensuring department staff compliance with corporate and site-specific HR policies, safety, and business policies and practices, • Approving job specific curriculum for the training and professional development of department staff, • Responsible for streamlining the batch record review process, • Responsible to understand the profit and loss for the PPU’s as well as all related documentation, and how these items impact Operations, • Driving continuous improvement, • Liaison with support groups for short- and medium-term needs – Supply Chain, Training, Quality Systems, Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and others, • Set team expectations and goals and assists in delivering the business direction for the PPU, • Aligning departmental goals, processes and resource allocation with the organizational strategy, • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws., • Direct reports: Associate Manager Training, Associate Manager, Compliance, Scheduling Associate, Quality Engineer Associates. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In this role, you will safely operate and monitor double drum drying equipment used to produce dry flake products that are packaged into bags, drums, and sacks. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, a safety-first mindset, and the ability to troubleshoot production processes while maintaining product quality and efficiency. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring strict adherence to safety, environmental, and operational procedures. Responsibilities • Operate and monitor double drum dryers and associated equipment to produce dry flake products., • Perform routine inspections and checks on dryers and ancillary production equipment., • Monitor control systems and manually operated equipment, making adjustments as needed., • Troubleshoot production, equipment, safety, or environmental issues and report maintenance needs., • Conduct product sampling and quality testing; accurately enter production and test data., • Communicate production status and operational updates clearly during shift handoffs and maintain plant security during assigned shifts., • High school diploma or GED required., • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills., • Ability to multitask, solve problems, and manage time effectively in a production environment., • Ability to work in a team-based environment and communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and leadership., • Must wear safety shoes, • Physical ability to climb ladders, navigate catwalks, work at heights up to 50 feet, and lift up to 50 lbs., • Previous experience in a chemical manufacturing or industrial production environment., • Forklift or fork truck operating experience., • Basic computer skills for production data entry and reporting.
