Job Description Chief Operating Officer (COO) Five Towns, NY Area $250,000 – $300,000 Potential for profit sharing Overview A well-established, multi-site childcare and early education organization is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to take ownership of day-to-day operations across the business. This is a hands-on senior leadership role focused on running the organization, driving performance across locations, strengthening accountability, and building the structure needed to support continued growth. The COO will work closely with ownership and will be responsible for ensuring that the business operates smoothly, efficiently, and consistently across all sites. Direct childcare experience is not required. However, the right candidate must have strong experience leading a people-heavy, multi-site, operationally complex organization. Key Responsibilities • Oversee day-to-day operations across multiple daycare locations, • Drive consistency, accountability, and performance across all sites, • Manage and support senior leadership, site directors, and operational teams, • Build and improve systems, processes, and structures that support scale, • Identify operational gaps and implement practical, real-world solutions, • Improve efficiency, execution, and communication across the organization, • Partner closely with ownership on priorities, decisions, and growth initiatives, • Ensure strong follow-through, accountability, and alignment at every level The ideal candidate is a strong, hands-on operator who knows how to run a complex organization, manage people, and bring structure to a growing business. This person should have: • Proven experience in a senior operations leadership role, such as COO, VP of Operations, Director of Operations, or equivalent, • Strong experience managing multi-site or multi-unit operations, • Experience in childcare, education, healthcare, homecare, hospice, urgent care, medical facilities, or another service-based industry preferred, • Openness to strong operators from insurance, manufacturing, or other operationally complex industries, • Strong leadership skills with the ability to hold teams accountable, • Ability to work closely with ownership and execute priorities effectively, • Strong operational discipline, follow-through, and problem-solving skills, • Ability to run a multi-location organization smoothly, • Strong leadership and people accountability, • Operational discipline and consistent follow-through, • Ability to build structure without overcomplicating the business, • Someone ownership can rely on to keep the organization running effectively Email resumes to:
