Job DescriptionDescription: About Amethyst Place Amethyst Place is the product of Kansas City community leaders banding together to address the lack of safe housing for single family homes recovering from substance use disorder and their children. Because of untreated mental illness, significant histories of trauma, poor educational attainment, limited work histories, felonies, evictions, poor credit histories, and lack of safe and affordable housing options, these women had no choice after residential treatment but to return to the same communities where their substance use began, threatening their recovery and the stability of their families. Founded in May 2000 by task force members, Amethyst Place has filled this gap for over 25 years and has been home to over 437 families, including 851 children. We achieve this through our Values of: • Building a community of trust and acceptance, • Serving each other with integrity and courage The Mental Health Therapist is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments and delivering evidence-based individual, family, couples, and group therapy to women, children, and extended family members of Amethyst Place program participants. This role collaborates closely with the Clinical Director and interdisciplinary care teams to ensure holistic, trauma-informed care that addresses the complex needs of families impacted by substance use, trauma, and systemic challenges. Requirements: • Conduct assessments for each resident family within 30 days of move-in, identifying mental health diagnoses, trauma history, and support needs., • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and trauma-focused interventions., • Provide individual and family therapy sessions aimed at addressing mental health concerns, enhancing parenting skills, strengthening parent-child attachment, and promoting healthy family dynamics., • Facilitate therapeutic group sessions for adults and children, focusing on psychoeducation, skill-building, and community integration., • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries, in compliance with HIPAA and agency standards., • Participate in multidisciplinary care team meetings to contribute to comprehensive care planning and coordination., • Assist clients in accessing external resources, including psychiatric evaluations, medical assessments, and community support services., • Attend and provide clinical input at relevant meetings and court hearings., • Develop and/or distribute calendar and community events to encourage resident participation and engagement., • Plan and participate in community events designed to foster relationships and support networks among residents., • Attend weekly and/or monthly meetings that relate specifically to the clinical provision of services., • Master's degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field., • Current licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or equivalent. Open to those provisionally licensed, but that will impact starting salary., • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience providing therapy to children and families, with a strong emphasis on trauma-informed care., • Proficiency in evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, and trauma-focused interventions., • Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills., • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team., • Medical, FSA, dental and vision coverage are available and fully paid for the employee effective on the first day of the month following 30 days of full-time employment or sooner if current insurance expires., • Life insurance coverage of $25,000., • 15 days of annual paid time off which includes vacation, personal, and sick leave., • 10 annual paid holidays., • 403(B) plan with employer match after one year., • $40 per month for use of their personal cell phone for Amethyst Place business., • Wellness benefit of up to $40 per month to reimburse employee for gym memberships, exercise classes, etc., • TELUS Health EAP access, which includes free counseling sessions for your entire household., • Costco membership.
