After-School Program Group Leader The Group Leader is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all activities for an assigned group in the after-school program. This position ensures safety standards are upheld at all times, follows and enforces Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) and ACT policies, and provides exceptional customer service to participants and their families. General Duties Supervise and ensure the well-being of all after-school program participants. Plan, implement, and lead a variety of recreational activities, including team-building games, arts, and enrichment programs. Provide quality customer service through positive interaction with participants, staff, guardians, and the public. Maintain the highest level of safety and risk management at all times. Respond appropriately to all emergencies and report incidents to the appropriate supervisor. Attend on-site training sessions led by the Executive Director and School-Age Child Care (SAC) team. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a group setting (not including babysitting). Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate. Pre-Employment Requirements If hired, candidates must submit: Completed medical form NYS fingerprinting clearance State Central Register database clearance HR paperwork Office of Children and Family Services paperwork Upon hiring, you will also be required to complete 30 hours of OCFS online school-age training courses. The Lead Teacher at Brooklyn Free Space (BFS) is responsible for the general supervision and management of a classroom. She or he must be professionally prepared as a teacher of young children, especially in the field of early childhood development.
