Job DescriptionAbout Us Step One Academy is a bilingual daycare center dedicated to creating a nurturing, educational, and engaging environment for children while building strong partnerships with families. We are committed to supporting both our staff and the community as we continue to grow, innovate, and expand our programs. Position Summary We are seeking a passionate, organized, and forward-thinking Assistant Director to join our leadership team. This individual will support the daily operations of the daycare, serve as the Program Supervisor, and play a key role in staff development, curriculum implementation, and family engagement. The ideal candidate is someone with strong leadership skills who is eager to grow into a future Director role. Key Responsibilities • Program Oversight:, • Assist with daily operations, scheduling, licensing compliance, and staff supervision., • Support teachers with the transition and ongoing use of the Creative Curriculum., • Ensure classrooms meet state and GrowNJKids quality standards., • Staff Development:, • Mentor and support teachers in implementing best practices., • Assist in professional development planning, training, and classroom observations., • Family & Community Engagement:, • Build positive, proactive relationships with parents through communication, outreach, and involvement opportunities., • Lead community outreach efforts to strengthen Step One Academy’s presence in the neighborhood., • Assist in organizing family events, workshops, and celebrations., • Fundraising & Growth Initiatives:, • Help design and execute initiatives to raise funds for student scholarships, trips, events, and enrichment programs., • Collaborate with leadership to develop new ideas that support long-term growth and sustainability. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (preferred)., • Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood education and/or childcare administration., • Strong understanding of child care licensing regulations and early learning standards., • Leadership experience with staff, families, or community organizations., • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Bilingual in English & Spanish strongly preferred.
