Job Description Career Advisor I Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour Openings: 3 Location - Onsite | In Office Start Date: Immediate Position Type: Temporary, end date to be determined based on performance and program needs Position Overview Our client has an immediate hiring need for three (3) Career Advisors to start as soon as possible! The Career Advisor plays a mission-critical role in delivering high-quality workforce development services. This position provides career counseling, case management, and coaching to individuals seeking employment and training opportunities. The Career Advisor (CA) directly supports job seekers in identifying career pathways, accessing grant-funded workforce programs, and achieving sustainable employment outcomes. This role requires a strong foundation in career counseling, eligibility determination, workforce systems navigation, and labor market analysis. Key Responsibilities Career Counseling and Assessment • Conduct comprehensive career assessments for job seekers, including professional-level customers and individuals facing significant barriers to employment, • Evaluate vocational skills, employment history, interests, aptitudes, and long-term career goals, • Utilize aptitude tools, workforce assessments, and career exploration resources Program Eligibility and Enrollment • Conduct intake processes and determine eligibility for grant-funded workforce programs, • Recommend and enroll participants in appropriate local, state, and federal workforce programs, • Prepare and submit Individual Training Accounts, work-based training requests, and supportive service requests in a timely and compliant manner Career Development and Job Search Support • Provide labor market information including industry trends, occupational outlook, qualifications, and wage expectations, • Assist job seekers with resume development, interview preparation, and job search strategies, • Conduct mock interviews and provide constructive feedback, • Educate customers on effective job search techniques and workforce tools Training and Referral Services • Refer participants to occupational skills training, work-based training, apprenticeship programs, and professional development opportunities, • Provide information on training vendors, educational opportunities, financial aid, and scholarships, • Connect participants to external support services to address barriers that may impact employment success Case Management and Compliance • Maintain ongoing contact with assigned caseload, • Monitor participant progress toward academic and occupational goals, • Enter accurate service codes and detailed case notes into management information systems, • Ensure case files meet or exceed all local, state, and federal quality assurance standards Employer and Community Engagement • Partner with internal business services teams to identify employment opportunities, • Screen and refer qualified participants to available job openings, • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with team members, community partners, and the public, • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance workforce services in response to labor market demands Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Knowledge of workforce development and economic development systems, • Understanding of case management and career counseling practices, • Strong conflict resolution skills, • Excellent analytical and critical thinking abilities, • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and workforce management systems, • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy Education and Experience • High School Diploma or GED required, • Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred, • Previous workforce development or related experience strongly preferred, • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance and good driving record required, • Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred Work Environment and Physical Requirements • Primarily office-based work environment, • Occasional driving and travel may be required, • Flexible hours may be necessary, • Physical requirements include occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, sitting, standing, walking, bending, • Requires visual acuity, speech, and hearing Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
