Job DescriptionTERMINAL MANAGER Position Summary The Terminal Manager is responsible for the overall management, performance, and profitability of terminal operations. This position provides leadership for all operational activities including transportation, freight handling, safety compliance, customer service, employee management, route execution, inventory control, and administrative functions. The Terminal Manager ensures that company objectives, customer expectations, and operational standards are consistently achieved while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operational Management • Oversee all daily terminal operations to ensure efficient and effective service execution., • Manage freight receiving, staging, loading, unloading, inventory control, and distribution activities., • Ensure all routes are properly planned, staffed, and executed according to customer and company requirements., • Monitor operational performance and implement corrective actions when necessary., • Maintain terminal organization, cleanliness, and operational readiness., • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and service levels. Customer Service Management • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer-related operational issues., • Ensure service commitments are met consistently and professionally., • Investigate and resolve customer concerns, service failures, and delivery exceptions., • Maintain strong customer relationships through proactive communication and responsiveness., • Monitor customer performance metrics and implement improvement initiatives as needed. Safety and Compliance • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture throughout the terminal., • Ensure compliance with all company policies, DOT regulations, OSHA requirements, and customer-specific standards., • Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and employee coaching sessions., • Investigate accidents, incidents, and safety violations and implement corrective actions., • Monitor driver qualifications, vehicle inspections, and regulatory compliance requirements. Driver and Employee Management • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop terminal personnel., • Supervise drivers, warehouse personnel, and support staff., • Manage employee performance through coaching, counseling, recognition, and corrective action when necessary., • Monitor attendance, productivity, safety performance, and service performance., • Foster a positive work environment focused on accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Route and Delivery Management • Monitor route performance throughout the day., • Respond quickly to delivery delays, service interruptions, and operational challenges., • Coordinate with drivers, customers, and leadership to resolve issues efficiently., • Ensure accurate route assignments, scheduling, and resource allocation., • Track service performance and implement strategies to improve operational results. Administrative Responsibilities • Maintain accurate operational records and reporting., • Ensure payroll, attendance, and timekeeping records are accurate and submitted on time., • Manage documentation including manifests, bills of lading, delivery records, and compliance files., • Maintain accurate information within company operating systems and reporting platforms., • Prepare and submit required operational, safety, and performance reports. Financial and Asset Management • Monitor labor utilization, equipment usage, and operating costs., • Support budget objectives through efficient management of resources., • Ensure company assets are properly maintained and protected., • Monitor fuel usage, equipment maintenance, and facility needs. Qualifications Education and Experience • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred., • Minimum of 3-5 years of transportation, logistics, warehouse, or terminal management experience., • Previous supervisory or management experience required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong leadership and team management skills., • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities., • Knowledge of transportation, logistics, warehouse, and distribution operations., • Understanding of DOT, OSHA, and workplace safety regulations., • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities., • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment., • Proficiency with transportation management systems, routing software, and Microsoft Office applications., • Strong organizational and analytical skills. Physical Requirements • Ability to work in warehouse, dock, and outdoor environments., • Ability to walk, stand, bend, and lift as required throughout the workday., • Ability to inspect equipment, freight, and operational areas., • Ability to respond to operational issues outside of normal business hours when necessary.
