Job DescriptionJob Title: Welder and Fabricator Job Description This role involves performing high-quality stick, flux core, and MIG welding on various types of steel while fabricating custom components to precise specifications. You will work from blueprints, use a variety of measuring tools to ensure accuracy, and perform out-of-position welding in a busy custom weld shop environment. Responsibilities • Perform stick, flux core, and MIG welding on steel with a high level of proficiency and consistency., • Fabricate parts and structures using various types of steel, including aluminum, hot roll, cold roll, and stainless steel, according to project requirements., • Execute out-of-position welding, including overhead, vertical, and horizontal welds, while maintaining quality and safety standards., • Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, materials, and welding requirements for each project., • Measure and mark materials accurately using tape measures, gauges, squares, and other measuring tools to ensure precise fabrication., • Fit and assemble welded components and structures, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections., • Operate hand tools and fabrication equipment, such as grinders and press brakes, to prepare, shape, and finish materials., • Inspect completed welds and fabricated parts for quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications, making adjustments as needed., • Maintain and use personal welding tools and equipment, including welding hood and pliers, in a safe and organized manner., • Follow shop safety procedures and contribute to a clean, efficient, and well-organized work area.Essential Skills, • Strong proficiency in MIG welding on steel, with the ability to pass a hands-on welding assessment., • Hands-on experience with flux core welding processes., • Ability to perform stick welding in a fabrication environment., • Demonstrated capability in out-of-position welding, including overhead, vertical, and horizontal welds., • Experience welding and fabricating with various types of steel, such as aluminum, hot roll, cold roll, and stainless steel., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints to guide welding, fitting, and fabrication work., • Skill in fitting, connecting, and erecting welded components and assemblies., • Proficient use of tape measures, gauges, squares, and other measuring tools to achieve accurate dimensions., • Competence in using hand tools and fabrication equipment, including grinders and press brakes., • Previous experience working in a custom weld shop environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • TIG welding experience is a significant plus, though not required., • Ability to perform grinding and finishing work on welded and fabricated parts., • Experience with assembly of fabricated components and structures., • Ownership of personal tools, including a locking toolbox, cold chisel, 1 1/2" scraper, 3" scraper, hammer (mini sledge and chipping), needle nose or TIG pliers, welding hood, file set, tape measure, and flashlight., • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work., • Ability to work independently and as part of a shop team in a fast-paced environment.Why Work Here? Work Environment This position is based in a custom weld shop operating on a first-shift schedule from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will work in a production and fabrication setting that uses welding equipment, hand tools, grinders, press brakes, and measuring instruments on a daily basis. The environment involves working with various steel materials, performing out-of-position welds, and handling fabrication tasks that require precision and attention to safety. You are expected to bring and use your own welding and hand tools, including a locking toolbox, welding hood, measuring tools, and basic fabrication tools, and to maintain them in good working condition. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Albany, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $24.00/hr.
