Job Description JOB PURPOSE The Physician functions as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. The physician demonstrates a high degree of clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses commonly encountered in adults as well as children. The provider is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, health promotion and care coordination for patients and families with acute and chronic health needs. The Physician demonstrates an advanced level of medical knowledge, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration, professionalism and systems-based practice. The physician works with administrative, nursing, and mid-level providers to assure safe, effective, quality patient care and to promote the mission of OHCC. FTCA SCOPE OF EMPLOYMENT Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) coverage is restricted to acts or omissions of a covered entity within the scope of employment of a covered individual. For actions to be within the scope of employment and be covered, they must: be within the approved scope of the project, including sites, services, and other activities. Duties, as outlined in this job description and the contract for services, align within the scope of employment for a Physician and are therefore covered by the Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Acts (FSHCAA) and the FTCA.
