As we continue to grow, we’re looking to add a Residential Construction Estimator who is excited by complex, design-forward projects and wants to be part of a company that values accuracy, teamwork, and long-term learning. This role is ideal for someone who loves the front end of custom residential projects—diving into plans, uncovering every detail, and helping set projects up for success from day one. As an Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in shaping projects before they ever reach the field. You’ll be responsible for building accurate, comprehensive estimates that reflect the true scope of high-end residential construction. Key Responsibilities: • Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documentation for custom homes and renovations, • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, labor estimates, and material pricing, • Solicit, review, and vet subcontractor and supplier bids, • Develop organized, highly detailed estimates and bid proposals, • Use historical cost data to support accurate and consistent pricing, • Assist with value engineering while maintaining Merrick’s quality standards, • Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure smooth handoffs, • Stay current on material pricing, market trends, and best practices What We’re Looking For: · 3+ years of residential construction estimating experience preferred (flexible for the right fit) · Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing · Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings · Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills · Comfortable managing multiple estimates and deadlines · Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently when needed · Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook (estimating software experience is a plus) · A genuine interest in learning Merrick’s systems and processes—and understanding why they exist Experience from related backgrounds—such as working for a lumber yard, supplier, or wholesaler doing take-offs and estimates—is highly valued.
