Now in its 50th year, Small World Early Childhood Center serves 139 2-5 year olds during the school day, extended day and summer months through NYCDOE Birth to Five contract and subsidized tuition/fees. Children and their families represent diverse cultures, languages, socio-economics, LGBTQIA+ identities, and differing abilities. Small World is part of St. Nicks Alliance’s impressive network of services for 6,000 children and youth across North Brooklyn. Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, we are seeking an experienced, NYS-certified Early Childhood Director for Small World. What You’ll Do: Small World’s experienced, NYS certified Education Director, Early Childhood leads a team of 27 staff, including head teachers, assistant teachers and a behavioral specialist. Reporting to the Small World’s Center Director, the Education Director is responsible for achieving high-quality educational services for all students, high-performing instructional staff and consistent family engagement in their children’s learning and development. Le Meraviglie is a studio based in Brooklyn Heights that offers a host of art and sensory based classes for toddlers and children. During the summer months, Le Meraviglie runs an Art Camp for children ages 5-11. A typical day at Le Meraviglie includes outdoor art activities, story time, workshops, group activities, and a cooking workshop on Fridays. Le Meraviglie introduces children to different artists and art forms, including drawing, painting, collage, music, dance, and more. Field trips to the park, outdoor adventures, and collaborative art projects add excitement and variety to each day. Our camp schedule runs Monday through Friday, from late June 16 through September 5th. All camp staff will join for an orientation day in early June. Hours: 8am - 6pm, with a paid 45 minute break CAMP LEADER POSITION: We are looking for an experienced Camp Leader with 1-2 years experience running a successful summer camp program. We will also consider candidates who have 3-5 years proven experience managing youth programs in school or community-based settings. The Camp Leader will work in partnership with the owner of Le Meraviglie to manage the overall operation of the camp including outreach/intake, programming, and scheduling, as well as supervising all counselors and campers. The Camp Leader will be responsible for managing the day-to-day camp schedule, which includes neighborhood outings, meals and snacks, open play time, and art and cooking classes. This individual will model the culture of camp at Le Meraviglie Art, creating a safe, friendly, and respectful environment for staff, our campers, and their families. Salary: $1300 - $1500 per week, based on experience. The Camp Leader will be paid as an independent contractor. CAMP COUNSELOR POSITION: The ideal Camp Counselor candidate will have 1 -2 years experience working as a counselor for a children’s summer camp program. We will also consider candidates that have professional experience working in classrooms or youth-based community settings. Counselors will be responsible for managing a small group of campers through our schedule and activities each camp day. This individual should be confident in their ability to manage behaviors and in fostering a joyful and respectful learning environment for young people. We are looking for someone who will take initiative in the studio space, and support campers and fellow staff members accordingly. Our ideal candidate is a self-starter who is eager to learn, and will communicate professionally with Le Meraviglie staff, campers, and families. Salary: Approximately $20/hour, based on experience. Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day is Camp Seeking Nature/Garden Specialists Young Judaea Sprout Brooklyn Day Camp, located in Red Hook, is a Hebrew dual-language camp for children entering Pre-K through 5th grade. No previous Hebrew experience is necessary to be part of the Sprout Brooklyn community. Sprout Brooklyn is a place where children from a wide spectrum of backgrounds join together to create a joyful, diverse community built on Jewish values, a connection to Israel and the Hebrew language. Our Nature and Garden Specialists will build their own informal Jewish education curricula based on Jewish values and creating a connection to Israel. They will teach daily 30-minute lessons to campers entering Pre-K through entering 5 grade. Sprout Brooklyn values staff that are positive and flexible team players who are excited to spend the summer with young campers and staff. The ideal candidate is excited about camp life and feels comfortable wearing multiple hats and will never say that a task “isn’t their job”. Responsibilities Work with the Program Director to create weekly lesson plans Create and execute fun, age-appropriate activities Engage campers and help them develop new skills Run 30-minute lessons daily with groups of 12-14 campers Incorporate Jewish values, Hebrew and/or Israel education into activities whenever possible (assistance is provided if you do not have experience in this area) Requirements At least 18 years old Experience working with children ages 3-10 At least 2 years’ experience teaching or working with children in nature or garden-based activities This can mean working with a national park nature program, running a school garden, supervising hikes for scouts, etc. Experience attending or working at a summer camp (preferred, not required) Enthusiasm and the willingness to be silly Hebrew fluency is a plus (not required) Camp runs Monday - Friday from June 23rd – August 15th with a week of required staff training on June 16, 17, 18, and 22.
