Job Description THIS POSITION STARTS JANUARY 5, 2026 TO COMPLETE THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR PAY IS DEPENDENT UPON DEGREE & YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND WILL BE PRO-RATED TO COMPLETE THE YEAR Spanish Teacher, Lower School, Part Time FLSA Classification: Exempt Position Type: 10-month Faculty, Part Time, 20-30 Hours Reports to: Associate Head of School OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION: Spanish teacher will have the primary responsibility for planning, programming, and teaching Spanish in alignment with the school curricular objectives. He or she will be responsible for establishing a positive, encouraging, appropriate relationship with students in which they are both held to high standards and supported in their attempts to meet them. A love of students and complete dedication to their success, combined with a passion for the Spanish language and culture, effective professional skills, a positive, team-centered personality, and a dedication to life-long learning are all necessary for teaching success at St. Benedict’s Episcopal School. Will work with other teachers and staff as a contributing team member to present a cooperative and positive adult work environment. Collaborates with other staff to plan, deliver, and individualize instruction for all students in a class; work together creatively to accommodate student needs, diversity, and educational backgrounds of the students in the class; and overcome instructional challenges constructively. The teacher is a hardworking, goal-oriented, and enthusiastic professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of its students. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Traveling to student’s classroom to instruct an average of 20 students., • Implement instructional activities that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged in meaningful learning experiences., • Facilitate activities and projects that incorporate communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking., • Will be responsible for planning lessons and creating the curriculum., • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment., • Identify, select, and modify instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs., • Ability to handle stressful situations., • Must maintain confidentiality of student and school matters., • Supporting and strengthening the learning capabilities of each student, • Demonstrating accurate, up-to-date knowledge of content, • Providing adequate information, plans and materials for substitute teachers, • Maintaining a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as instruction., • Monitoring and management of students’ behavior, including appropriate enforcement of student behavior rules., • Maintaining a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as instruction., • Maintaining accurate, complete and appropriate records and files., • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis., • Model professional and ethical standards and practices consistent with school policies when dealing with students, parents, peers in both speech and actions., • Participate in training and professional development., • Showing support and high esteem for School at all times., • Attending and participating in faculty meetings and other assigned meetings and activities according to school policy., • Complying with conditions as stated in employee agreement and handbook., • Commitment to St. Benedict’s Episcopal School's mission and values., • Performs other duties as assigned by the head of school or assistant head of school, such as carpool, lunch coverage, chapel check ins. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree required, in Spanish preferably; Native speaker preferred., • Teaching experience, preferably in an independent school setting, • Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, • Must work well individually and as part of a small team, • Working knowledge of Google Classroom and other similar programs, • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or other similar programs; Renweb experience a plus., • Passionate about working with and inspiring students., • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills and written skills, • Superior time management skills and the ability to consistently meet deadlines and be flexible, • Ability to stand for long periods of time while instructing; excellent hearing abilities; physical ability to transport students from one area of a building/campus to another; physical ability to move into different learning spaces., • All duties and responsibilities are essential job functions and requirements and are subject to possible modification to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.
