Position Title Security Officer Position Summary / Career Interest: Work involves monitoring and patrolling campus and its facilities. Assists with parking, performing inspections of closed buildings, and opening and closing areas used by faculty, staff, students and visitors. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions • Conducts personal escorts and provides transportation for students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors, primarily using a department vehicle. Escorts may be provided by foot during inclement weather or unavailability of vehicles. Person will be escorted to or picked up from Hospital and University and campus locations, residences, parking lots and the garages within prescribed boundaries., • Enforces State and KUMC parking rules and regulations through issuance of parking citations, verbal, or written warnings., • Enforces parking garage access. Keeps traffic flowing in front of Hospital and University entrances and ensures area is used for the intended purpose of loading and unloading patients., • Assists hospital staff in efforts to meet customer needs by directing and controlling traffic flow, providing directions; providing assistance, including vehicle and safety escorts to patients, visitors, staff and students (e.g. Cambridge Street parking facility, Front of KU Hospital)., • Patrols areas of responsibility, including Metal Detector operation and other building entrances, constantly looking for unusual activities that may cause harm to individuals or their property. Interacts with co-workers, law enforcement officers & other department personnel and maintains effective working relationships. Adheres to all University and department rules, regulations and policies., • Assists employees, students, staff, and visitors with jump starts and tire inflation. Receives proper valid proof of ownership and written release prior to providing the service. Gives directions and aid to visitors and staff on all parking problems on campus. Submits recommendations for improvement of the program., • Attends and participates in all departmental special assignments and training sessions assigned. Performs other duties as assigned in the manner and time frame specified which include maintenance of parking enforcement devices, providing special parking areas, traffic control, escorts, and other special assignments., • Operates two-way radio equipment in accordance with FCC regulations and departmental policy. Writes and submits clear, concise, legible, and timely reports., • Keeps uniforms, vehicle, and equipment clean and in working order per established procedures. Be able to present, upon request, any issued equipment. Maintains and operates vehicles in a safe prudent manner. The Dock Operations Manager optimizes dock material flow by coordinating delivery and pick-up appointments, assigning dock space, managing traffic flow, and serving as the primary point of coordination with carriers, shippers, and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities include directing dock activity, inspecting inbound and outbound shipments for accuracy and condition, and proactively resolving operational issues that may impact service levels. A key focus of this role is streamlining supply chain operations by reducing delays, eliminating congestion and clutter, improving dock efficiency, and minimizing costs associated with receiving and distribution. The Dock Operations Manager ensures that all dock egress areas and adjacent corridors remain clear, organized, and fully compliant with fire safety, and life safety codes. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Direct and manage daily dock operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and efficient loading and unloading of inbound and outbound shipments while maintaining an organized and efficient shipping and receiving environment Plan and facilitate daily dock schedules, coordinating delivery and pick up appointments to optimize dock utilization and minimize delays or congestion Serve as the primary point of contact for internal departments, carriers, drivers, vendors, and customers regrarding dock activities, accessibility, schedules, and service interruptions; proactively communicate delays and resolve issues to ensure a high level of customer service Coordinate cross functionally with clinical areas, Spend Management teams, Facilities, Security, and other hospital departments to ensure safe, seemless dock operations and alignment with broader operational needs Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures governing dock and logistics operations; continuously evaluate operational processes and initiate improvements to enhance efficiency, standardization, and regulatory compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety, security, and environmental regulations including enforcement of safety protocols to prevent injuries, accidents, and property damage Direct dock traffic flow to ensure safe and timely movement of vehicles and materials, maintaining clear egress routes and compliance with fire and life-safety codes in dock areas and adjacent hallways Maintain operational readiness of dock equipment, including barcode scanners, pallet jacks, lift gates, and related tools; troubleshoot issues and coordinate maintenance to minimize downtime. Oversee cleanliness and organization of the loading dock, shipping areas, and surrounding workspaces to reduce clutter, improve safety, and support efficient operations Monitor, analyze, and report quality, safety, and productivity metrics, taking corrective action as needed and driving continuous, measurable process improvement across dock operations Ensure accountability for the integrity of inbound and outbound shipments, including accurate receipt, handling, staging, and release of goods Apply operational judgement and decision making under pressure, resolving service disruptions, shipment issues, safety concerns, and conflicts involving staff, vendors, or customers Lead by example through professionalism, accountability, and a customer focused mindset; foster teamwork, collaboration, and a solutions oriented culture with the dock and across teams Demonstrate safe, ethical, and professional behavior that supports and advances the organization's mission, vision, values, and culture Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
