Job DescriptionSalary: $23.00- $24.00 Hourly CAREER DETAILS: CAREER TITLE: Health Careers Pathways Coordinator LOCATION: AYW Headquaters, Austin, TX DIVISION: Youthbuild Austin DEPARTMENT: Education and Training POSITION REPORTS TO: Workforce Development and YouthBuild Program Director POSITION SUPERVISES: Program Participants and Students CLASSIFICATION: Regular, Full-time, Non-Exempt POSITION PURPOSE: The HealthCorps Coordinator supports YouthBuild members in pursuing health-related education, training, and career pathways by providing mentorship, academic guidance, program coordination, and partner engagement. This role works closely with members, staff, and external education and training partners to support enrollment, monitor progress, address barriers, and help ensure members complete program prerequisites, earn industry-recognized credentials and educational milestones, and successfully transition to employment, advanced training, or postsecondary opportunities. Under limited to no supervision from theEducation Supervisor, the Health Careers Pathways Instructor will perform the following functions: • Member Support, Enrollment, and Mentorship, • Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with YouthBuild members through consistent mentorship, encouragement, and accountability., • Support members in meeting prerequisite requirements for participation in health-related education and certification programs, including required paperwork, medical documentation, vaccination records, testing, and other enrollment items., • Assist members with enrollment in health education, certification, and allied health training programs., • Conduct routine one-on-one check-ins with members to support goal setting, progress monitoring, problem-solving, and persistence., • Support members in developing academic, training, and career goals connected to healthcare and postsecondary pathways., • Academic Coordination and Progress Monitoring, • Monitor member attendance, participation, academic progress, and completion of coursework for health-related training and educational activities., • Track member timesheets and related program requirements to help ensure timely participation and accountability., • Identify barriers to academic success and coordinate appropriate support or intervention as needed., • Maintain ongoing communication with academic advisors, instructors, and partner program staff to support member success and resolve issues affecting progress., • Support members working toward a GED by coordinating with instructional staff, encouraging regular testing, and reinforcing progress toward completion., • Work collaboratively with the Education Team to support integrated learning plans and educational success strategies., • Partnership and Program Coordination, • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with educational institutions, training providers, and community-based partners that support YouthBuild member pathways in healthcare and related fields., • Serve as a primary point of contact with assigned academic and training partners to coordinate member participation and support., • Collaborate with community partners to identify and support service-learning, work-based learning, and career exposure opportunities for members., • Support and supervise members participating in approved education, service-learning, and work-based learning activities, as assigned., • Educational Support and Skill Development, • Provide or coordinate academic support activities that reinforce success in current coursework, including study support, time management, organization, and test preparation., • Facilitate or assist with group study sessions and other structured learning supports related to health coursework and credential attainment., • Reinforce professional behaviors, accountability, and readiness for healthcare training environments and post-program transition., • Cross-Team Collaboration and Transitions, • Collaborate closely with Case Managers, College and Career staff, instructors, and other YouthBuild team members to provide coordinated support to members., • Assist members in preparing for graduation and transition into employment, advanced training, postsecondary education, or other next-step opportunities., • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and other assigned professional development activities., • Work with the supervisor to establish and pursue professional goals., • Perform other duties as assigned in support of program and organizational needs. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Required EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: • Associates degree in Health Science, Education, Human Services, Public Health, or a related field. EXPERIENCE: EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: • Bachelors degree in Health Science, Education, Public Health, Human Services, or related field. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION: • Experience working with academically and socially at-risk youth or opportunity youth;, • Experience supporting participants in healthcare training, certification, GED, or postsecondary pathways;, • Experience working with educational institutions, training providers, or community partners. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE: • Health career pathways and the general skills, training, and credential requirements associated with entry-level employment in the healthcare field., • Service-learning, work-based learning, and project-based learning models., • YouthBuild, AmeriCorps, or similar youth development and service-based programs preferred., • Effective practices for working with academically and socially at-risk youth and young adults., • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and other standard office and SKILLS: • Strong interpersonal, mentoring, and relationship-building skills., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Strong active listening, observation, and problem-solving skills., • Skill in coordinating multiple tasks, activities, and participant needs in a timely and organized manner., • Skill in supporting, instructing, and encouraging participants from diverse backgrounds., • Strong time management, critical thinking, and organizational skills., • Ability to communicate effectively with participants, staff, educational partners, and community contacts. OUTDOORS:Occasional exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or other unpleasant weather conditions; ATTENDANCE:Monday Friday, starting at 8:00 AM, 40 hour workweek; 30-minutes unpaid lunch break; occasionally weekends or after hours to meet deadlines or special projects and other events as needed. TRAVEL: Service Sites and occasionally attend professional conferences, workshops, training, home visits, court, chaperone day and or overnight field trips, and annual staff retreats.
