Job DescriptionDescription: Kitchens for Good POSITION TITLE: Facilities and Kitchen Support Assistant REPORTS TO: Facilities and Logistics Manager FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt COMPENSATION: $20.00-$25.00 LOCATION: DOH San Diego, CA Who we are: Kitchens for Good transforms lives through culinary arts. Position Summary: The Facilities and Kitchen Support Assistant is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of our culinary training spaces, facilities, and vehicles. This position supports daily operations by assisting with deliveries, kitchen setup, equipment maintenance, and ensuring a safe and organized environment for staff, students, and guests. Essential Functions & Responsibilities: Facilities Support • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs across the facility., • Set up and break down classrooms, event spaces, and workstations., • Assist with kitchen setup and breakdown for classes, events, and meal production., • Support inventory management, including receiving, storing, and rotating food and supplies., • Conduct Vehicle Pre-Inspection, • Safely operate company vehicles to transport food, supplies, and equipment between locations., • Load and unload deliveries using proper lifting techniques., • Conduct regular safety checks in kitchen and facility areas., • Promote and model safe work practices, including proper lifting, food handling, and chemical storage., • Report and help resolve safety hazards or incidents promptly., • Other duties as assigned, • Conduct weekly log checks at each location including-DOH, YTC, and EMJDF to ensure contract compliance is being observed, • Opening Checklist, • Closing Checklist, • Temperature logs, • Sharps inventory, • Assist each location with Monthly Inventory, • Safely operate company vehicles to transport food, supplies, and equipment between locations., • Load and unload deliveries using proper lifting techniques., • Maintain delivery logs and report vehicle maintenance needs. Competencies: • Collaboration Skills, • Customer/Client Focus, • Flexibility, • Stress Management/Composure, • Excellent Communication Work Environment: This job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat, colder than normal temperatures, steam, fire and noise. Physical Demands: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is required to stand for extended periods of time, sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills, and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position, non-exempt position scheduled at 40 hours a week. Includes weekends and holidays as needed. Travel: Delivery routes include Kitchens for Good sites, Youth Transition Center, and East Mesa Juvenile Detention Center. Other routes as assigned by manager. Background checks: Must undergo Criminal background clearance through the Probation (backgrounds), State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Requirements: Education and Work Experience: • Minimum high graduate or equivalent, • At least 3 years of related experience, • Basic knowledge of building systems, tools, and equipment handling, • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physically demanding tasks., • Experience in facilities, kitchen, or warehouse support is preferred., • Familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices is a plus., • Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, etc.), • Food handlers (or willing to obtain one upon hire which will be scheduled and paid for by the organization) Additional Requirements: • Valid driver’s license, • At least 21 years of age, • Ability to operate vehicles in a variety of weather and traffic conditions, • Good driving record with no traffic violations Must undergo Criminal background clearance through the Probation (backgrounds), State of California Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
